I have the cutter module with my H2C and I’d like to cut out some silhouette shapes out of A4 paper as a first project. I’ve got a few shapes I want to try to arrange so as many of them as possible fit on a single piece of paper. I’m looking for an option in Bambu Suite where I can configure the paper size and then arrange the shapes within it, but I don’t see any such option. I see an overall cutting size reference, but that seems to represent the capacity of the machine rather than the size of the paper. What’s the right technique to approach this?
I’m not sure Suite has that option to limit the working area to an A4 size. You can do it manually in the software where you create those shapes and just use rectangle for A4 size. If you have Birdseye camera (it comes standard with laser variant of H2) or installed it standalone, then it can “scan” the plate area and provide you with a working sheet where you can populate as much as you can.
I got the H2C with the cutting but not laser module, however I ordered the Birdseye camera (received, but I haven’t installed it yet). I didn’t think I’d need that for this simple project.
On the Birdseye Camera spare parts page: “Support for calibration without the Laser Module will be added in a future firmware update.” I thought that firmware update already came out, can anyone confirm whether it does or doesn’t work yet?
Yes, it does work. I can confirm. I also don’t have a laser module and installed Birdseye separately.
It looks like only the print then cut process uses the stock size, so when you want the birdseye camera to be used do you have to specify print then cut instead of just cut?
Use just cut. The camera snipped will be available at the later stage, where you would orient and position everything on the cutting board. It’s not ideal, but Suite to be honest is far away from anything ideal…
Wasn’t what I thought would be necessary, but now I’ve opened Inkscape and I’m arranging the individual shapes on an A4 canvas there and saving the whole thing as a single SVG that I’ve imported into Bambu Suite and then it arranges all of that together.
I’m hoping that with the release of the R1 that Bambu Suite will get some improvements.
I dunno. I hope so, but … Suite was a whack for quite a while.
Agreed, and the cutter module was all but ignored on Makerworld and the laser module didn’t have that much either, but now that they’ve got a product which completely depends on Bambu Suite they’re going to have to improve it if they want the R1 to gain traction.
