How to share similar models

I have several variations on models I make. Things like different size compartments, # compartments, with or without the french cleat, etc.

What is standard practice to share these? Does each model get its own upload, or should I be sticking them all under 1 upload as different print profiles and/or STLs?

Just seems easiest to me for each model to have its own upload, but I’m not trying to get points removed or uploads removed later on. I know its subjective but what’s your opinion on when a model is different enough to warrant another upload?

I’ve been making models off and on for years to organize my shop and tools and its nice being able to share things and get a little kick back in the process.

Here’s an example of what I mean.

I think something like this could be uploaded in the same 3mf on separate plates. One plate named 3-Slot and one named 5-Slot or something like that. I tend to try and use as many of the features built into bambu studio to avoid uploading a ton of “duplicate” or very similar models to separate pages. I just uploaded a model that has a bunch of different patterns, so I made a plate for each pattern with 8 in total. Hope this helps

Absolutely not as separate models — that would be considered cheating and could result in penalties.

I usually handle it by using multiple plates or different print profiles of the same model.

When I see people posting a lot of different fidgets that are only different in the smallest possible way as completely new uploads and nobody is complaining about that I see no reason why your models should not all be seperate uploads too!

cheating in what, I wasn’t aware I was playing a competitive sport? Are you saying the 5 million different gridfinity boxes are also cheating?

I get that the models are similar in nature but changing height, quantity of compartments, etc all require a completely separate design.

At what point in your opinion would this become a new model if not by completely changing its shape and size?

I can understand if its some superficial attribute like a pattern or print setting, but I had to make separate models for each, granted some of the work was reusable.

Cheating because you could gain more points having more models downloaded than a single one and you could be reported for this.

If the shape/function is the same but change only sizes (or compartments or ornaments), that’s considered one single model with variants.

If a model has multiple parts, putting them into a single print profile can prevent users from overlooking any parts during printing. Additionally, it helps maintain a cleaner and more organized model page.

A permitted exception is if a component of your model has multiple variants; you may upload the variant as a separate print profile, although it is recommended to uploaded variants as separate plates in a print profile and name the plates accordingly.

Then it’s up to you. Good luck.
