How to slice “vase" mode and normal mode together

I’ve seen a youtube video asking for help on this problem: Bambulab X1 Carbon with AMS slicer problem, can you help, please!? - YouTube

The model looks like “Universal_Screw_LNB_Cover_v3.0_2.5t_Vase-93486_mm_short_DM4DS.stl” from Thing files for “HOLY” - QO-100 2.4GHz - 2- 4.5 turn Helix universal 55mm LNB horn holder by DM4DS - Thingiverse

The model itself has problems: the name suggest “vase”, but you can’t slice it in vase mode, or you’ll loose the top threads. You can’t slice it in normal mode either, because the lower part is solid, but we want a hollow bottom.

Basically the question is how to slice vase mode and normal mode together in one object. This is impossible on all slicers, because vase mode is an object-level setting. However, we can get something similar: bottom part being wall only with no infill, while keeping the upper part unchanged.
And I’ve got a solution by splitting the object into two parts, the bottom part’s setting is: 0 infill, 0 top solid layer.

Thank you Arthur… I have been thinking about this as well. I am a bit of a newbie and can’t fully understand how you did this. Can you share some explanation? I would like to have a thick base and then a vase mode on top of this.

Do you have any pictures of the finished part?
