Where is the option to Unload filament (cut it) after completing an non AMS print?
I manually loaded the the filament and successfully printed from Bambu Studio by unchecking the AMS option. Afterwards to unload the filament I finally tried loading filament from AMS slot 1 which solved the cutting issue which allowed me to pull out the manually loaded filament. Then I unloaded the filament from slot 1. A very convoluted filament wasting solution.
You can cut the filament by hand - just squeeze the lever, but, make sure the hot end is hot so filament displaced by the blade has somewhere to go. Hit the extruder up button 2-3 times and pull out the filament.
It is a bug/glitch that only when you electrically disconnect the AMS an unload button which automates some of the above is shown.
As the OP mention - if you have the AMS connected but feed/print with a filament outside the AMS (selection when start a new print) the ‘Unload’ button is not there in on the screen. Can confirm with latest FW update.
Maybe the OP doesn’t have the latest firmware. I just checked and with the AMS connected and no filament loaded from it you can push filament in externally and when the switch above the extruder sees it the unload button appears below the extruder buttons. I didn’t try it but I assume is goes through the heat, cut, reverse extrude sequence.
It run with old firmware as well.
you must take care only, the AMS is disconnected if you have loaded a external filament. so if you have AMS connected, then turn of printer, disconnect AMS turn on, then unload button is available.
I got the same results but as soon as the print begins the Unload button disappears and does not reappear after the print is complete. However, when I turned off the printer and turned it back on the Unload button was back and after I heated the nozzle up, I selected it and it worked perfectly!
Turning off the printer did the trick. When I turned it back on the Unload button was back even though the AMS unit was still on. After heating up the hot end the Unload button worked perfectly. Thanks!
The solution is to turn off the printer after the print completes. After turning it back on the Unload button will be back. Heat the nozzle to the temperature for the filament you are using, PLA 220 in my case, and the press Unload and the printer will cut the filament and allow you to pull the filament out by hand.
Out of interest, I tried the solutions mentioned here. The only way to get the unload-button back on the printer (and in BambuSlicer) was the ‘turn-the-power-off-trick’.
Before that, I pushed the ‘extruder down’ 3 times which did nothing for me (and didn’t want to waste more filament)
I have the latest firmware installed.
It works, but I think there is room for improvement from an UI point of view.
That is the way to do it. I was thinking of adding a comment like this as well. With my Prusa I do the same. only that I do push some filament down thru extruder (arrow down) , take it off the nozzle with tweezers and then click the up arrow a few times until I notice that the filament is free and can be pulled.
