sorry if this has come up before. I couldn’t find anything right away.
I bought a Bambu 3D Effect Plate with Carbon Fiber optic. I peeled off the protective film which is marked with a small green sticker and then placed it in the printer.
Every time I want to start a print, I get a message that the plate has not been recognized. If I continue, I immediately have spaghetti lines in the printer
Where can I set it to use this printing plate? At the top left in the print options in Bambu Studio I cannot select the 3d effect PEI.
The effect sheets require a slightly temperature to be used. Besides selecting the smooth PEI, increase bed temp to 60-65°C as per Bambu’s recommendation (which is unfortunately easy to overlook).
Can I select a fixed temperature for a printing plate? When I start the print, 55°C is displayed as the bed temperature. When I change it to 65°C, it jumps back to 55°C 3-4 times
I have had quite a few issues with the effect sheets as well initially as even tiny differences can have a big effect.
They do for example, require much more frequent cleaning. So wether or not that is actually a contributor, plenty of dishwashing liquid and a cloth as well as plenty of warm water will not do any harm.
The plate selection and temp increase in particular for the 1st layer needs to happen in the slicers filament settings. Otherwise, it can revert to defaults.
There may unfortunately also be some hard temps set in the print start Gcode. I had found some examples there in the past but still use an older BS version myself.
Furthermore, you can also increase the first layer nozzle temp by 10°C. That will help.
Finally, the effect sheets can mess with the Lidar. So it is best to do a flow auto-calibration and bed levelling with the Smooth PEI only (at print temps), and then start the print with calibration and levelling switched off. I have not had that issue for a while though as one of the firmware updates in 2024 seems to have improved on that.

PS: Not sure if you had to apply the stickers yourself. I had to do it myself and found that it took some time (and heat) to get consistent results with them. The first half-dozen prints were a pain. Mainly because I forgot one of the points above but some of that may also be attributed to the sticker adhesive needing some time, heat and force (i.e. sitting on the heated, magnetic bed) to settle properly.
First layer with 10°C more (I had to set manually) is there a setting that does this automatically for the first layer?
I let the plate heat up for 45 minutes at 90°C in the hope that it would then adhere better.
I cleaned it multiple times with warm water and dishwashing liquid then cleaned it again with isopropanol. There is really no grease or anything else on the plate.
it is now the 23rd failed print.
I’m fed up with it. I’ve switched back to the textured plate.
if anyone else has an idea, please let me know.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Did you use the smooth PEI for the calibraton and bed levelling before switching in the effect plate? Note that the Effect plates are not the same as the smooth PEI plate. Bambu just saved itself some programming by recommending to use the (modified) profile.
If you used the textured plate for bed levelling and in particular homing, then the nozzle z-distance will be wrong and adhesion will not be possible.
