Huge Blob, can I save the Nozzle?

HI,

I got yesterday a Huge Blob, you think that I can save the Nozzle ?
Should I try to Heat the Nozzle to 250 C ? Or just Install a replacement to be save ?
And what else should I check to be sure nothing is Broken ?
Thanks

Welcome to the community.

I realize this looks bad but looks far worse than it is. And yes, it is totally salvagable so long as you are careful.

The last thing you want to do is heat the nozzle—that will create an unmanageable mess. Instead, if anything, freeze it for an hour to make the filament as brittle as possible. Leave as much of the filament intact as you can so that, once frozen, you may be able to more snap off entire sections. When you take it out of the freezer, work quickly with pliers and snips to take advantage of the brittleness before it warms up. If the filament starts to soften again, stick it back into the freezer and repeat the process.

After you get the silicone sock free, it should be fairly simple task to work side cutters and pliers around the stuck pieces and they should crumble or break off. Again… DO NOT USE HEAT!!! it will only create a gooey mess.

These are tools that should already be in your toolkit which will make quick work of this problem:

Or consider a set like this, which is even better. Search for “Jewelry Plier Set”—it includes all the pliers you’ll need: side cutters, snub nose, needle nose, etc.

I’m fairly new but i think you should change the nozzle to be sure it doesn’t happen again but i think you can save the thermistor and the heater.

Ok, Thanks for the Tip, in that case I need to remove the fan before putting it in the freezer. If I could Save the Silicon Sock would be good, because the Spare Nozzle that came with the Printer has no Sock. So if it fails I could Replace it otherwise I need to wait until the New one arrives, I ordered the Complete Kit with the fan.

Silicone socks are consumable items you should have on hand along with nozzle wipers and filament cutters. These are $3-$6 per sets of 3 and should be on hand no matter what. Silicone socks wear out quickly and can also be purchased via 3rd party knockoffs on Amazon for a little bit more for the convenience of not having to spend a $50 min on the Bambu site.

Here’s my top three shopping list of items you’ll want to make sure you have in your toolkit. I invite everyone to comment on this.

What NOT to buy!

Here’s a top list of what I call “sucker” items. By that I mean these are either Bambu branded items that can be had for a fraction of the cost online.

  1. Glue Sticks
  • Elmer’s white glue stick or its equivalent use the same formula you used in the paste that came in a jar in kindergarten, they are even made in the same factory. The difference? One has a Bambu logo on it and 2X the price.
  1. Liquid Glue
  • There are tons of lower cost equivalents on Amazon and guess what? Liquified Aquanet hairspray works even better and that costs $4.00 for 20x the amount.
  1. PTFE tubing.
  • While there is a convenience factor in buy pre cut, if you’re qualified to operate a razor blade :wink:you can buy the same product in bulk at your local home improvement store or online for a fraction of the cost. Just do a search on Amazon for 2.5mm inner diameter and 4mm outer diameter PTFE, it’s as generic as paper towels. Some even come as kits with cutters in the box.

    4 ) Bambu Lubricant Oil
  • It’s call PTFE lubricant and can be found just about everywhere for a fraction of the cost. Super Lube is probably the most generic and is also the cheapest but there are others out there. Search here on Super Lube

Less Obvious and a matter of preference.

Ceramic heaters at 3 for $25 vs the whole nozzle assembly for $18 each. That’s a judgement call. Personally, I prefer the complete hotend assembly for convenience although I have heaters and separate nozzles in my kit too. Bambu Hotend - P1 Series | Bambu Lab USA Store
