I just can’t win; if I leave filament loaded, I have issues with changing to a new color while trying to print. Exact error: Can’t find the filament location?!? Then if I unload filament after I print, I come back and the printer says, “I still can’t find the filament location.” Then it gets stuck “pulling back current filament” (there’s no filament to pull back since it’s not loaded with any filament). So this error is in fact an error. Then it gives the filament may be broken in the PTFE, so pull it out (filament is fine, not broken) During all of this it is not pulling any of the (loading) filament (no attempt to rotate any AMS of the filament spots tried them all location) in at all.
Why is there a pull back filament when there’s no filament loaded?
I am so done with this printer that only worked great for the first 3 months.
From your description you are talking about the external spool.
Get into the habit of:
Unloading any filament you are finished with
Loading the filament when you go to use one
Do this as you need will stop this announces.
If you have an AMS, you do not need to do any loading or unloading while using it, as these actions are performed for you automatically.
You only need to do them manually when you you the external spool.
I am speaking of the AMS; I do not use an external spool. If I leave a filament in the extruder, it throws errors about filament location when I start my next print with a different color. If I unload the filament (in the AMS), the next day when I go to print, it gets stuck right after cutting the filament, stating that it can’t pull back the filament (because it’s already pulled back).
Test it with your hands to make sure. Push the cut lever. Push the extruder tension lever, and pull the filament out with your hands. If it didn’t come out effortlessly, your cut’s not cutting
