I got a featured model but I don’t understand the purpose

I make different kinds of models, most are disability and accessibility related. I made multiple thumb braces a while back and one of them was put into a makerworld email. That brace got lots of attention, awesome! It still does and I really appreciate the nice comments and the exposure it got from this email.
Last week I uploaded my wrist brace model after working on it for a long time. To my surprise I got a notification 2 days later that the model has been featured. Super super cool! It is awesome people notice and like what I make and again I really appreciate this. But I haven’t really noticed an increase in traffic to the page which makes me wonder what the difference is and why. Can somebody explain to me how the featured models work and why it is such a different experience to the email?

This is my profile. familieKP | Published - MakerWorld

I imagine it’s the nature of things. With an email, it’s a bit more focused in it’s subject, so probably better at directing traffic more specifically. With a feature, it’s part of a rotation of models.

Your models are niche, while good. So I suspect that while it’s a feature worthy model, in the general sense people wont flock to it like something a little more trendy.

I’d think of it more as a key towards long term growth. You may not see a big bump, but it’ll add to the overall long term growth of your popularity as a designer.

Thanks! That is a good way to think about it!

In fact I would argue @familieKP is in the unique situation of having a model that I saw and was thankful I didn’t need!

It’s super cool but I hope to never print it myself despite admiring the work and design on it. I imagine many others saw it on the homepage and thought similarly.

Super cool models, and congrats on the featured one! However, please try to upload related models together. Having separate uploads for the left and right versions of the same product is often considered unfair. I’d recommend combining them into a single upload, with different print profiles if necessary.

Really great work! I hadn’t seen your models before - but it’s awesome that you’re making items that can help people. Hopefully your model being featured will help you be even more visible on the platform!

Thanks!yes I thought about that but because it were so many profiles already I thought it would be better to separate them. I will group them in the future! I did for the wrist ones already.
