I got a serious 6.5k penalty, but why? HELP!

Now that you made a profile for Makeronline, you can take screen shots of the account you made with the email, proving you have no models on it. Then you can take a screenshot of the fake account, proving it is not yours. Do not submit this through the appeal yet, do a ticket first. In that ticket explain what happened and ask if this is the website that they though you had posted your models. Does this make sense?

Keep us updated. This is an interesting case. The account on Makeronline is a year and half old.

How does one prove that the account on Makeronline belongs to another person?

Should MW just take one’s word for it? If yes, then everyone can put their models over there and then when caught, claim that the account is not theirs.

If one needs to prove that account is not their, then how to do it?

Maybe one solution is for everyone to regularly check other platforms (vs finding out a year and half later) and report promptly to have the models and/or accounts to be taken down?

The meta-issues here (like DWdesigns touched on) are interesting. The situation now is

Creator discovers MW gives $ for designs, sweet. Puts his models exclusively on MW.
Time passes, creator gets $ and spends them. Everyone is happy.
MW says “you have been uploading your designs elsewhere, minus points for you”
Creator learns the dark side of the “sweet” bargain, they now need to defend their IP across a zillion platforms and outlets, work they didn’t realize they has signed up for.

I know there are synergistic effects from having all of your work under the same MW id, but if I was a creator embarking on a new project I think I’d spin up a new MW id for it to limit the “blast radius” of the IP attacks.

I’ll buy that for $1

I really hope that Giotto’s heirs don’t get the idea of enforcing the copyright on the circle

I just put a disclaimer on my bio stating the websites were I am at, so no one gets confused, so I do not get penalized.

How does the disclaimer prove anything though? If people want to upload their “MW exclusive” models onto another platform then they can just don’t list that under their bio.

True, I was thinking about that, but it might help if in a situation like that.

Now I got a message from makerworld that another exclusive model was found on another website (I think they are talking again about makeronline). They want me to remove the model from the other website within 3 business days, but how am I supposed to do that? I replied, that I already reported the model and the account on makeronline as it’s not mine.

So, will this completely destroy my makerworld acount???

I also opened a ticket to get help with this copyright infringment. I took a video stream of me reporting the model theft on makeronline and attached it to the ticket Here is their respond:

It is interesting that this time they are warning you.

Makes me think the reason for the other model being removed from exclusive was not because it was on another site.

If you’ve been ripped off and someone posted (loosely use the word clone) then once it’s resolved MW will return the points.
If Makeronline has responded I’d start (if you haven’t) sending that in with your ticket.

I would respond to that message asking what website as I only have account on XYZ platforms.

You should also respond to the ticket stating the message you just got.

Now I also asked for copyright protection for another model via the creator center.

Any updates on this case yet?

Yes! I made an appeal and it was successful, so I got all my points back!

I suspect it was a good Idea to open a ticket beforehand and reported the user and the stolen models on makeronline.

And my separate request for copyright protection for another model was also a success. The request was accepted and they said they contacted the other platform (makeronline) and asked for deletion.

At the same time my reports on makeronline got reviewed and all the stolen models were removed.

Thank.you guys for giving me hints what the problem was and what to do.

Good to hear.

The process is a PITA, but it usually works out the way you want it to. (Unless you know you did something wrong)

If i was you i would be making a video showing them the account on makeronline and that fact that you cant logo into that as you don’t have a profile on there. i have found in the past that making a details video of your screen with you talking to them and click helps with them making a better choice of outcome.
