I made a Chrome/Firefox Extension called MakerWorld Plus

I pushed version 1.5.1 to both Chrome and Firefox for review! Just a small update to accomodate the new layout of the upload page on the userpages. Didn’t require too much typing so I was able to do that easily with my left hand

Little rant, always feels a little sad receiving these reviews when I specifically mention that it works only on the English website of makerworld for now :frowning:

Hey @Hollandje – would you consider surfacing Makerworld’s “Hot Score” value like the Unofficial MakerWorld Assistant extension does? I really like seeing that and watching it grow/shrink as I publish new models and track their position on the Trending page.

Hmmm I had a look at how the other extension does this and it’s a value they extract from the API. I could have a look if that’s something I could extract. Thus far my extension just uses front-end information and doesn’t mess with the back-end for privacy concerns but I could introduce this if there is enough people that’d like to see this feature implemented.

It didn’t work for me on Brave and on Vivaldi (Chrome compatible). But it works partly on Waterfox (firefox compatible). Any ideas? Maybe, the extension needs access to additional sites, which are blocked by my firewall.

Hi
Just see that I have to refresh the open page to have the extension info displayed. Once refresh done it works like a charm
Not a big deal but a bit frustrating

That is strange, I know it works well on Chrome but have never tried it on Brave and Vivaldi. It could have to do with the fact that I somehow have not been able to get the extension work when the webpage loads from “makerworld.com” to “makerworld.com/en”. This is done dynamically and because my extension currently only requires access to MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Printing Models it sometimes doesn’t load properly. I should really look into fixing that but it’s been a non-issue for me as my bookmark is the MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Printing Models domain so it loads immediatly.

This is also for jcjames_13009, and for firefox especially, it requires a reload on makerworld.com/en to activate because all the pages are loaded semi-dynamically on the website. I’ll try and see if I can get a fix out for this issue before I leave to visit some family at the end of march.

Again, thanks all for the kind words! It is really awesome to hear people using the extension and enjoying the extra features!

@Hollandje, thanks. I don’t know, why but it loads, if I call my profile directly using Print in 3D | Published - MakerWorld (I have allowed insecure content in website settings). And sometimes it stuck on load.

But I can’t see it on my uploads page. But if I load a uploads page from other users, it shows additonal infos about the uploads. It’s strange.

Aaaah its because your browsing on the German website. It for now only works on the English variant. You can switch to the English version of the website in the footer. Interesting that it worked on other creators’ pages though

I had searched for the place to switch to ‘english’. Thanks now I know.

But even in english my site looks like this:

And if I look a other designers upload page, it looks like this:

I had an inkling and checked out your page with my dev build and it’s the dots in your name and how I have the extension coded to detect userpages. You can see how it detects it as an unsupported page type in my console.
Oversight on my part, I’ll see if I can push out a fix later in the evening or tomorrow to fix this

edit:

Quick and simple fix, I’ll send an update out soon

edit 2: Update 1.5.3. has been pushed to both Firefox and Chrome. Firefox is already approved and now running 1.5.3., chrome should follow in the next 24-48 hours. Thanks for the pictures print.in.3d, it really helped with finding the root of the issue!
