Over the last few months, I’ve been working on creating a filament management iOS app, which I recently published, titled Filameter.
As I began printing with a wider variety of materials across my projects (engineering filaments, TPU, different colors, etc) I had all my filament piled into various dry boxes, and finding and managing filament became a real challenge.
This app helps address this with the following features:

I like your app, but being partly colourblind, I would need filament names to be able to use it effectively. Are names included in the pro version?

Glad to hear that you found my app!
I recognise that being colour blind could make it more difficult to identify spools in the UI.
When it comes to spool names, each spool does have a tag for the type of plastic it is: PLA, PETG, ABS, etc.
If you’re looking for more detailed naming for individual spools (“Red PLA Spool number 4”), the app unfortunately isn’t a feature yet, in both the free and pro versions.
If that would be something you’d like, I’d love to consider implementing such a feature in an update to the app. Just let me know!

I imagine print farms will want this thing to have an API, so that their sales website can see what is in stock, and display a color chooser to the customer, to select the colours of a print.
That’s a reasonable idea.
Could you clarify how Filameter’s Bambu integration works?
- Is synchronization one-way from the AMS/Bambu Cloud into Filameter, or bidirectional with Bambu Studio/Handy’s Filament Manager?
- Do changes made in Filameter, such as remaining weight, AMS assignment, material, or color, get written back to Bambu?
- Are completed and cancelled multicolor prints automatically deducted from the correct physical spools?
- Is synchronization continuous, or does the user manually import AMS spools and recent prints?
- Does it require Bambu Cloud, or can it operate through LAN/Developer Mode?

Here are some answers to your questions:
1 and 2:
Synchronisation is one-way: Filameter fetches spool and print info from Bambu, but it does not overwrite the information there.
3 and 4:
Syncing does not occur in the background. You have to manually log each print, but filament usage and spool info are fetched and easily saved into Filameter. You tap to log a print, and simply select the corresponding print that is fetched from Bambu.
I understand that if print logging were tedious and repetitive, this feature would not be practical
5:
Yes, it uses Bambu Cloud and not a LAN to sync. While LANs have advantages, cloud syncing lets you fetch data from anywhere.
