I may have found a niche

So I’m in the process on learning CAD and what not. I don’t want to copy some of t he users I know from here so I decided to focus on one of my hobbies.

I collect Star Wars Black Series figures. I have quite a few, well maybe a lot. The biggest issue when collecting is displaying because I open them up. Toys are meant to be played with. Fight me. Stands are either too generic, too filimsy, or too limiting.

So I’ve started making my own. I’m not going to link them here but if you search Black Series you’ll find them.

I’ve envied all of you for awhile. I didn’t have time, or felt too old to learn something new. Now that I’m dog paddling along it feels kinda good to see something I desired take fruition. If any of you have the figures or have idea, please share. I’m very much a beginner, but I do like a challenge.

Posts some links.

I have looked, and they look great and I am not even interested in the field.

The focus on the natural positions of the models when standing is a good idea.

Didn’t want to seem like shameless self promoting, although I will shamelessly self promote.

I appreciate the comment. Means a lot.

You have to start somewhere and just designing something, printing it, and have it come out like you wanted is a huge step. Right there you opened up a new world because everything else is just variations on a theme and adding more complexity.

Being able to go from concept to physical widget is an accomplishment! :+1: (and a bit of a thrill)

Congrats!

Yep. Last night I sat down and measured a holder I had printed way back when I got the printer for my vacuum.

The stand was a mashing of geometry, one clipped into the other and the bottom wasn’t flat so caused some issues when printing. Also way too loose to hold the thing.

The file wasn’t compatable with shapr so I had to redo it from scratch, using some measurements from it. Came out nice and strudy.

So yeah, those little stands gave me some confidence.

I’ve had my eyes on your previous stands for a bit. I have my GI JOEEEEEEE figures, and I kept thinking if yours would work. I think it’s time to try, with this refreshed model.

If not shoot me message if you know the peg size

Well, I’m semi-proud to say I’ve entered my first contest.
The puzzle one, thing, whatever.

No expectations to win, just wanted to say I’ve enterd one.
I did it from scratch too, because it’s a somewhat common game/puzzle and I didn’t want to be accused of using someone elses assets.
