I Need help with Model Parts not fitting together!

Hi Guys,

I’m new to 3d printing, this is actually my first 3d printer and I had it for a couple months now. I planned on printing some 6" to 12" articulated action figures. I purchased several models, I have yet to explore making my own. However ever single model I print that has pegs or any type of joint connecting two pieces, the parts are either too small or too large to connect together. The arms and legs cannot attach to the body or other limbs. I’ve used the Bambu lab slicer to resize different parts and sometimes with success, but I figure there must be another fix to this. Its not just one 3d model its every 3d model I download. I’ve had great results with statues and everything else, but anything with multiple parts that connects together is always off. I appreciate any help!

You can try to play with this parameters :

Also you can try to reduce a little your filament “flow ratio” like 0.95 rather than default 0.98 :

EDIT:
Example :
X-Y hole compensation : +0.15
X-Y contour compensation : -0.15

Not to take away from DzzD’s excellent advice, but that is exactly why I got into 3D printing as well; action figures and the like, and two things made it so much easier.

First, download OrcaSlicer and calibrate your filament. It’s really easy to do, just download it from here…

Releases · SoftFever/OrcaSlicer (github.com)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that once you download it, click “Calibration” on the top bar and watch the videos on how to calibrate your filament.

Second, download Meshmixer from the Microsoft Store and check out some YouTube videos about it. It is surprisingly easy to get the hang of it and there are many videos about the exact thing you are asking about. There are also videos about creating your own pegs and voids. This will allow you to download some whole models and slice them up so they print better and then attach them as you do the other models.

Thankyou, Ill try and mess around with those a little bit and see if it makes a difference.

I do have meshmixer already, just haven’t had time to learn it. Ill check these out, thanks for the help, do you know of any figure models made specifically for/on the bambulab? I dont think anyone I got models from used Bambulab

I’m not sure if there is such a model as far as action figures go. The only printer specific stuff I see is for accessories like for the AMS. I get most of my models from Thingaverse, Printables, Gambody, Cults, and CGTrader. I’ve also got some rigged models that I am learning to pose (on Blender) and put on various diorama bases that I bought and made.

The real hard part will be painting them with regular brushes and airbrushes so they don’t look like a 3rd grader did them.

this worked thank you very much
fits like a glove

These sound great for someone running into this problem often. But what about for someone who runs into this once per year or so and can’t spend all that time relearning all these extra things over and over every year?
For example, I designed a part with exact fit parts. It would seem there should be a setting that just says something of the nature of “don’t ooze outside the actual dimension ever” kind of thing… Or more simply “print inside the lines by .01” for example.
Is there really nothing that simple?
Thanks
