Hi everyone,
Just a quick technical question: The AMS Lite has a feeding motor. As soon as the filament is inserted, it pushes it all the way to the extruder, where the extruder gear takes over. What I’m wondering is — during the actual printing process, does the extruder pull the filament entirely by itself through the AMS from the spool? Or does it continue to receive assistance from the AMS feeder motor?
Here’s the background:
I’ve recently run into an issue with a filament (eSUN PLA Matte) I’ve already printed dozens of rolls with. Suddenly, it no longer prints properly when loaded via the AMS. The AMS hub on the print head fully retracts, and the print is paused. The printer tries to pull in more filament, but usually fails. And if it does succeed, it only prints for another minute or so before the same thing happens again.
However, when I use the exact same spool on the external spool holder, everything prints just fine.
Thanks a lot for your help!
