Did my generated downloaded 3D object from MakerLab “Image to 3D” get smaller recently? The filesize went from 40MB to much smaller. Is it the same amount of polygons? Was the service nerfed?
Models are now exported in zip format. You have to unzip the file and the size will be larger.
Yes, I see that - but my question is, will the unzipped file be the same quality as the the files before were? Is it the same model generator with the same size, polygons, however you want to calculate?
The reason I ask, is this comparison of objects, on site and downloaded and shown in 3D Builder in win 11. It looks different and not as good as on site.
Is it just the skin that got more compressed?
When I file is “zipped” it is compressed with an algorithm so that it takes less space (smaller file). When the compressed file is uncompressed (unzipped) it should be exactly the same size as before the process.
So, the end result shouldn’t be different, other than smaller.
I don’t know if they changed anything else.
