[in stock] PETG HF out of stock everywhere conspiracy theories anyone?

That’s not too bad.
Wish they’d say why there was a problem though.
I like PETG a lot.

Yeah, I like the Bambu PETG HF more than other brands I’ve tried. It’s not nearly as glossy and prints well.

Matterhackers has an estimated in stock date of August 1st for Bambu PETG-HF.

PETG material is glossy. They add additive to make it “matte”, which looses a bit of PETG’s elasticity.

If these are not in stock soon, then I’ll have get some from 60+ Colors of California Filament PETG. Its price is competitive, considering it’s made in Los Angeles, CA. Their bulk discount code is in FAQ section.

ive been using creality refill petg, after testing different brands. This is the better option, it fits on the bambu spool and prints straight out of the box even with petg hf settings. But be warned if ordering through amazon uk, they’ve limited it to one spool per order so i purchased 5 in individual orders. I don’t get bambu they’re quick to roll out all these new printers and have these birthday sales but not quick enough to stock filament. And why all the secrecy on petg-hf??

I think it more has to do with Ethane imports into China. (Ethane is used in PETG production)
Between import Tariffs and License requirements production of Bambu Branded filament may be down as their manufactuers focus on their branded products as it has better profit margins.

Only a theory.

TNTom’s theory makes sense. To produce PETG, China needs to import both Ethane Glycol (EG) and CHDM from the US.
These commodities must be affected by the Donald Trump’s import taxes that seem to be in the news everyday. China’s have retaliated with import tax of their own so the EG and CHDM flow will get disrupted.

Yesterday I asked the live chat, when PETG HF will be available again in Europe and the answer was: 1-2 months from now :frowning:

i`m also waiting for petg hf and 2 months after other 2 months is…

I’m slowly considering selling my 10 rolls or so – it seems to be slowly becoming like toilet paper in the Covid era

This thread started in June. Back then Bambu was saying that it would be 2 months before PETG HF will be in stock… Now they are saying this again… Maybe they will say it again in another 2 months.
I’m not quite sure why people just don’t use a different brand rather than waiting. You can always buy the Bambu stuff again when it comes back into stock (xmas time maybe… :joy:)

Their website is saying “Late August”. … (doesn’t say which year though :grinning:)

@SupportAssistant It would be helpful if there is a statement from BambuLab on why the PETG-HF is still not available and what is being done to get it in stock again.

That wouldn’t help. Its like them telling us that “the problem has been solved” in the Tape At End Of Spool thread, when people are still having issues. They just tell us what they are told to tell us… It may be the truth or it may not…:joy:

Not sure about the CHDM but not an absolute on the EG.

China Has Become The World’s Largest Producer And Consumer of Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol

https://www.echemi.com/cms/589090.html

But from what I have read despite the production China is always short on EG and it can be very expensive there. Supposedly Iran is/was the biggest producer of it in the middle east and you know probably none of that was going to the US.

FYI From Structure and Bonding in Ethene: The \(\pi\) Bond - Chemistry LibreTexts

" Ethene is the formal IUPAC name for H2C=CH2, but it also goes by a common name: Ethylene. The name Ethylene is used because it is like an ethyl group (CH2CH3) but there is a double bond between the two carbon atoms in it."

All of the PETG HF, all colors, globally disappeared overnight. Looks like they either discovered a manufacturing fault or that it is contaminated and emitting unsafe/carcinogenic (for PETG) fumes.

My research indicates that the reason we’re seeing no stock of PETG-HF in any colour is because the world’s first floating city project (codename: Replicator) has been quietly requisitioning every last spool for their water-tight structural printing needs

You never know, maybe they accidentally give a solid explanation…

PETG is not available due to stock issues. It takes a bit of time for the filament to arrive in the warehouses, and it is expected to be available again around late August.

We understand everyone is waiting for it and our team is doing their best to meet the demand in the shortest time possible.
