Inconsistent color layers through thickness of part

Does anyone know what may cause inconsistencies in color depth in Bambu Studio? See images below, watch the top and bottom of the “S”:

1st Layer:

2nd Layer:

3rd Layer:

4th & Final Layer:

The original model was done in solidworks and the logo is done as separate bodies and exported as a stl file in this particular case (I have tried exporting as a step and 3mf as well with similar results). I then painted the logo using the fill with edge detection on.

Any help is appreciated!

If you are able to have the logo as 3 separate objects (1 per color), you should be able to use 3mf for importing into Studio and change their type to modifier before assigning colors to them.
That’ll give clearly defined color volumes.

the Slicer does some weird interlocking of the colors when using the painting option.
Now if the colored sections are truly separate bodies (non merged extrusions in SW) then they should appear as separate objects with the process slider set to Objects and there you can select the filament color for each object individually without using painting and that way it will be colored as “designed” throughout the layers.

There is a bug in the slicer when you use paint and different child objects are in place.

The easiest solution (if you can control this) is to only ever use separate objects, do not use paint for this (paint is fine for ornaments), and then organise your objects correctly once coloured.

  • Ideally, you export the different coloured sections combined from your CAD software and name them accordingly.
  • Drag all the selected files from your file system into Bambu Studio and agree to merge them as a single model
  • Using the objects view, expand the merged object
  • Drag and drop them so the background is at the top of the list with each other colour below.

The highest object/colour is considered the least important, this means all other colours below that occupy the same space will overlap this one. The lowest object/colour is the most important and it will cover every other object in the list.

You can have the same colour more than once in the list, you must remember it covers all above it.
