So I downloaded a file that was a Christmas tree top stem ornament.
Printed really nicely but as soon as I popped it of the build place and removed the skirt I had put on it, it was was created as a solid object for all intents.
I know to check that next time but how does one address a model that obviously should be hollow but isn’t.
I think I am mostly curious how to punch a hole up through what has been designated as infill by the creator so that the tree topper can top a tree.
If it doesn’t require infill to support the model higher up, you could just set the infill to zero. If it does require internal support your options are either add a modifier or a negative part inside the base.
I’ll give both a shot. Thank.
I have no feel for need vs not, Would increasing outer wall thickness be a help if I do away with infill?
Wild someone posts a tree topper that totally doesn’t work as a tree topper.
Would vasemode work with these? (Not being a purveyor of tree ornaments)
I may give that a shot. Everyone’s Christmas is different. As kids growing up had a top of tree ornament similar to the one I printed and quite often we might have to tweak the tip of the tree and honestly I would have expected it to be baked into the model.
Lesson learned.
Went back and looked at designers notes and sure enough, use vase mode plus a couple of other items.

Did they only upload the model or was there an actual print profile? I don’t know why they wouldn’t put that in the print profile rather than rely on user’s doing extra steps. They are setting themselves up for bad reviews, especially from those that are printing directly from the Handy App.
I downloaded the file expecting it to be already baked in but it wasn’t.
Just a note to be sure to print in vase mode.
