I’m hoping I can get some help here. I’m trying to branch into petg and started with petg+ (Inland Brand from Microcenter). I’m getting some issues with blobbing and stringing. I’m using the Generic PETG+ setting on a P1S. I have thoroughly dried my filament and am printing from the dryer while it’s running (sunlu ams heater top).
I’ve been printing for a few years but just now got the courage to try to use a more advanced filament. I’ve been drying my filament for well over a day and still getting lots of issues. I’m also using the 0.2 bambu standard default setting. I get really nice clean first layer adhesion and as the print continues the blobs and stings eventually start. It’s a bit frustrating but all part of the learning. Any advice I can get would be awesome. Really appreciate you all.
The initial issues that I had were adhesion of the 1st layer and some stringing. I started using a Glue Stick and I bumped up the Bed Temp to 75C/78C for the first layer and then 73C for all of the other layers and I have had pretty good success. 3D printing since May 2026.
I just thought of something else that you could try and that is to print a Temperature Tree test print. That will show you at what temp your setup for your physical location works best for your printer.
I believe I use the eSun profiles for the inland filaments. If I remember correctly, inland is made by Polymaker or eSun, and I’ve used PLA, PETG and ABS from inland using eSun profiles with no issues, after drying the filament well.
Hey so I checked my bambu lab profiles and don’t see any PETG for Esun in the system. Did check and saw polylite petg profile for polymaker. I’ll try it as well. I did a temp tower test for both of my petg+ filaments and got similar results in the orange petg+ my 260 to 265 layers are good and 270 is usable. 255 lower is not and globs and strings. In my clear petg+ print 255-265 are the best and usable. 250 and lower is not. Neither tower I could let finish 245 and lower as it glob and would not adhere. These were using the Generic PETG profile in bambu. Does anyone know why these would be so much higher than the printer spool temp and the normal print range most people advise they print PETG with? Most are at 245-255 I believe?
Been drying for hours. Like well over 10-12 as I predried and then I print while drying as well. 55-60C for the dryer. I haven’t tried the inland forums. Ill go check it out after work in a bit.
I’m really curious why the print prints so cleanly at such higher temps than the label.
Sounds good. Glad to now know. Again I’m new to PETG+ and PETG in general. Any tips or prior knowledge/experience you can share to help with success? Trying to learn and branch out into newer materials and filaments. Would this running hotter to print clean than what the spool label says be expected? Looking for helpful advice.
Thanks guys this gives me a good place to start. Inland will be one of my main sources of filament due to how close Microcenter is for me. So I would happily take the profiles for the normal PETG filaments too. I really appreciate all the help. It means a lot. I’m excited to be branching out.
