Since I bought the X1 Carbon I have had no issues with the network connection. Yesterday, my printer started to fail to connect to my network.
General Behavior:
Printer connects to network
Printer disconnects from network
Cycle repeats every minute or so
My Troubleshooting:
Rebooting
Unplugging
Toggling WiFi
Forgetting network and reconnecting
Reboot router
Hot spot connection (same behavior)
Factory reset
Connected printer to dedicated 2.4GHz network
Set static IP for the printer
Put the printer in a DMZ via router settings
Disconnected the AMS
Additional Info:
Running latest firmware on printer
Does anyone here have any other ways to attack this issue?
Update:
Trying to downgrade firmware through the app is unsuccessful. After several attempts, the option to downgrade appeared, but the downgrade failed. It seems the time that the printer is connected to the network is too short to complete the downgrade.
Reverse/downgrade to the previous firmware version that worked well for you. Connect printer to your network. Problem (most likely) solved.
[There are plenty of topics from multiple users complaining of having technical issues following firmware updates. Like you, they try everything they can think of to solve their problem… somehow forgetting that prior to updating their firmware their printers worked well. Downgrading the firmware to the last working version usually solves the issue…which is why I always, but always, don’t update the firmware until several months after, and only after the other users confirm (multiple sources as possible) that the respective firmware version works as intended…Usually, there are one or two versions after that solve those issues.
Well, is there a way to downgrade that doesn’t rely on the network? As I understand it, the only way to downgrade is to use the app while on the same network as the printer.
The problem appears to be resolved. I replaced the WiFi antenna ($4) and I haven’t dropped connection since. I will update if this turns out to be a false positive.
