Internal walls preventing infil

So, I am trying to add structural internal wall, but when I do this, Bambu Studio views each internal wall as an “outer wall” which is why, I am guessing, there is no fill between the “outer walls” albeit, in my case, they are actually interior walls.
I have designed the internal walls to be the same width as the line width and changed all line width values to be equal to make sure this wasn’t causing any issues.

Has anyone got a workaround for this? I can make smaller rectangles inside my internal walls, but it leaves a gap inside the part, which kind of defeats the purpose.

can you share/show the model? Seems more like there is maybe an error with the manifold etc.
And how did you create the ‘internal’ walls? because if all the rest is hollow than there is no infill - it has to be solid

here is some screenshots of the model. The internal walls are sketched on the front plane and extruded to the required depth, which is the full depth of the part. After extruding those, I create a sketch of the perimeter geometry and extrude that the same depth as my line width slicer setting to effectively cap off the front and back of the part.

I’m not sure if you noticed, but each of my internal walls is built up of an outer wall - gap infill - outer wall. I was expecting no gap infil to be fair, but if there was a gap infil, I would have expected the walls to be built up like so: outer wall - gap infill - inner wall.


You need to use “Modifiers” in Bambu studio.

You will need two things, a model of the outer walls and a model of all the internal “solid” walls that you want. It’s easiest if you import it as a Step with two bodies so that the parts are located correctly. Change the interior model type to modifier so you can change the settings independently. It’s a pity there isn’t an option to select walls and change them from “outer wall” to an “inner wall”, I feel like if I was able to do that, it would realise where I need the infill.

In none of the strength optimization testing videos that I’ve seen (e.g. by CNCKitchen and others) has anyone recommended the use of inner walls as an optimal solution for maximum strength at least material usage. If that’s your reason, then either you know more than they do, or else maybe simply adjusting wall thickness and interior fill settings is actually better, not to mention easier.

None that I have watched have tested my specific use case though, where the stresses are propegated outward from the slot in the middle. Cubes and hooks only tell you so much, in my opinion, which is why I want to test different options for my specific part. I plan on testing increased walls and localised solid infil, where I have seen the part failure begin; and making a decision based on those results.
