Internet connection

Does the x1c need to be connected to the internet at all times to operate and film time lapses? Im not very interested in remote printing or remote monitoring via the webcam at the moment.

You need the cloud connect to setup the printer once, then you need it for firmware updates.

But you can use a LAN-only mode for the printing, but the camera is not working then.
You could also use an old fashioned SD card or SFTP to transfer files to the printer.

Thanks for the speedy response. Just so I understand, the camera will not work entirely? Or just remote monitoring? Surely it doesn’t need the internet to film or time lapse right? And Will spaghetti detection work without the internet?

Everything will work completely fine. You just won’t get the notifications. The printer should still stop if it detects spaghetti and all that crazy bad stuff that we hate to have happen with prints. And now that I think about it, I’m not 100% sure that the printer actually stops when those events occur because I have not ran into that yet. So again I’m not 100% but it should operate as designed, as long as an SD card is inserted, you should still be able to record time lapses without it being connected to the internet. You just won’t get live feeds.

AWESOME!! Thanks, thats what was keeping me from buying one until i got those answered. So i have the x1 carbon and a .6 nozzle in my cart. What else do yall suggest? I have no interest in the ams right now and i heard bambu’s textured pei wasnt very good. But i do love textured pei on my other printers

@GsdTdeaux

I have never had a problem using the Textured PEI plate.

A couple extra glue sticks might be a good idea, but I have started using Aqua Net Extra Hold and it seems to work much better, and much easier to apply.

The remote monitoring does not work, aka you cannot watch the printer printing in Bambu Studio.
For the P1P it works, but the camera sucks big time there as the microelectronics are too slow and it does not offer spaghetti detection which the X1C does.

I promise im not trying to beat a dead horse lol i just want to make sure before i buy. Im not really interested in remote anything. I just want spaghetti detection to work with out the internet lol

I actually have no experience if it does work or not, but it should be able to run as the CPU is powerfull enough to do it.

I’ve had it both warn me of spaghetti, and stop completely. I suspect it chooses the latter if it’s “pretty sure”.

Isnt glue sticks and hairspray kinda old news?? Im confused why a product of this status would need them? Im not trying to be hard headed, just gathering as much info on this thing as possible lol

Cool! Thanks for the reply. And it did all that not connected to the internet right?

You at least have to activate the printer via internet once, and for firmware updates, but it can print fine without any internet connection.

10-4. I have no problem with that. Thanks guys I really appreciate the quick help on a Saturday :metal:

Actually no, it was connected. I can easily run an experiment, though

They’re recommending glue stick as a release agent on the Cool and Engineering plates, as the surface can be very sticky when new. Hair spray can work as both an adhesion agent, and a release agent.

The cool plate can have things stick TOO well, and the glue stick is used as a release agent more than to assist adhesion. Bambu has great guidance for each plate they offer and which materials they suggest using glue stick.

For most materials the textured pei plate does not need it. Many also use a Wham Bam pex plate for smooth glue free printing. It sounds like Bambu is working on a new glue free cool plate option too.

Fingers crossed with the experiment

Yep. With the Wifi turned off, the spaghetti detection still works, and it will stop the print.

This sure is a relief to hear. A sked the same question on a fb group and they pretty much all saying it has to be connected to the internet for the Ai detection to work.
