Ironing on H2D

If I want to have a smooth surface on the H2D with the ironing feature, it always looks like this. I have tried the smoothing flow from 10% up to 40% and everything looked the same. In the middle it becomes smooth and mostly on the left it becomes rough.

Has anyone had similar experiences and found a solution?

Easy. Stop ironing. Too much work and too inconsistent results. You spend 10 hours to print all test samples only to find out it doesn’t work on your print size. Ouch.

The settings I use are as follows which seem to work pretty good for PLA.

Rectilinear, 150mm/s, 26%, spacing 0.15mm, inset 0.2mm (1/2 of 0.4mm nozzle)

the reason the edges are always raised is the Infill/Wall overlap setting. Bambu sets it high so they can print fast and have parts hold together. It affects everything that is not a “wall”. Play around with this before you determine you need ironing. Also tune your flow rate in the filament settings.
