So half my points are gone because Makerworld decided that the 5hrs i spent fixing, coloring and creating a profile for a model are not enough of a change to count as a remix, even though the original author of the model has no problem with it and actually praise it.( another edit because i forgot to say the model was deleted now but it was uploaded February 2025)
Reposts, AI models that are not even identified as such, copy and paste models and even stuff that is bought from terabyte bundles on etsy are ok but painting a model isn’t ?
I am trying to teach myself how to design models without using AI, so i take models that i like and i try to make different, it wasn’t bad enough that the thing that made makerworld unique, the profiles, now no longer get rewarded and that i still can’t rate profiles because i use lan mode, now this ? like don’t embrace the thing that put the printers on the map, multi-color printing, no let’s take the models down because that is not enough of a change.
Bambu you guys seem to have forgotten, yet again, that the roots of this hobby are based on word to mouth, it does not matter how good your printers are if every person who is asked for an opinion says “Don’t buy Bambu, the hardware is great but the company is no better than Creality”, no offense to Creality, the creator of one of the most iconic 3D models Dummy 13, Soozafone, already left, ( This is incorrect he did leave but apparently he came back) anyone who wants to make money with designs either sets up a Patreon or goes to Cultso or Thangs, so tell me if this is how you are going to behave why should i or anyone else create for makerworld ?
At this rate you are just next Thingverse.

Its kind of your choice to participate or not. Its their rules and I wouldnt count on remixes to gain points, make your own unique creations. They are pretty generous with gift cards etc compared to other platforms from my experience.
I printed for almost a year before i even realized i could get points for my models because i did it for fun… the points are just a bonus.
If you want to make a career of it, makerworld probably isnt the cash cow you seek.
Unfortunately many have abused the system so changes have to be made to make it sustainable.

My remix is from February i made it for the valentine day context, it makes no sense to remove it now
i do genuinely feel bad for people because of the amount of ai crud the place has but it seems (at least to me) to be less frequently bumping to the top of the front page nowadays; although that may simply be due to al gore’s rhythm deciding i don’t want to see that nonsense.
i don’t know why you’d need to state that you’re trying to learn how to make models without ai when most ai-produced models are not functional and are meant mostly to just collect dust on a shelf somewhere. just take some prims and go nuts in tinkercad or something. i’ve been having plenty of fun learning the basics and this was before i even know AI was an issue in the 3d printing community.
you should keep at it. you shouldn’t be doing this for recognition or for anything else. the moment you realise this the easier it’ll get.
they can take down your model but they can’t take away what you learned.

yeah i dont know i think they are cracking down on things lately… i went through and removed a few of my models from the exclusive as they treaded a fine line with their new guidelines…
I dont think they are trying to destroy it though i think they are trying to keep it alive but the abuse has broken their old system, so they are trying to fix those abuse loopholes.

Because if you go to printables you will see many models, including models from what was my favorite uploader, 29flow, are actually AI generated meaning i wasn’t really learning without AI anytime i created a profile for one of their models.
The abuse loopholes were done with bot accounts, or tit for tat like behavior my model is been up for months people like it and have boosted it and makerworld removes it because painting isn’t enough modification, reminds me companies trying to counter fair use on youtube because someone said something they didn’t like
Stop making heros out of people who align polygons.
You can still appreciate them and what they make but you shouldn’t put them on a pedestal for it.

Correct, because painting a model isn’t changing the model, a remix is and always has been you taking a model and then changing the model
If you paint a model it counts as a print profile and you upload it to the existing model as an option

Wut ? what the hell are you on about ?
So the part were i fixed the model and created a profile flew over you head ?
And no coloring isn’t just printing, for 2 reasons, if the brush is a tool then it’s the same as any other tool if you use it on a model to change it’s appearance you change the model, and secondly if you are actually trying to be precise so your model efficiently uses color change you can’t just press a button and be done with it, you have to do it manually and it takes time and patience.
Wrong the abuse was done by more than just bots people were abusing it by boosting each other downloading excessively and other means.
There was a almost exact copy of my model that has been online since February that I didn’t notice gaining 1500 points Plus about 20 boosts from me… I finally got it taken down the other day hopefully they lost all their points but that’s just an example people are greedy and try to cheat the system as much as they can.
But it sounds like you just want to rant.

Any changes you make to a model inside Bambu Studio, no matter how much work you put into it, will never count as a remix.

The excessive downloads issue comes from them wanting to flaunt numbers of downloads without thinking of what would happen, they then “fix it” by actually making it possible to download past a point, this because the capcha they set up to trigger automatically does load on most browsers, i also said it was bots and tit for tat so i recognize the whole boosting each other issue, but then again it’s their own fault, they wanted to be different and didn’t even about the consequences.
As for your case the original author was the first guy to comment my upload, i didn’t steal anything like in your case, this isn’t about greed i lost 500 points that’s it but there is no rhyme or reason for this.
As for this being a rant, you can think about like that if you want however if this is so important why didn’t makerworld ever gave me any recognition when i found flat out stolen models and reported them ? or why do they still apply a different set of rules to chinesse uploads ? hell there is a model on trending right now that goes to an account were all the models are re-uploads but sure i am just ranting and the system is working as intended.

What ? this is confusing but also funny i didn’t use studio
It looks like you were saying you painted a model then uploaded that as a remix rather than a profile. You didn’t say whether you changed the geometry of the model.

I assume you mean painting, and yes, just colouring the model is not remixing it, the physical geometry hasn’t changed, which is what actually makes something a remix, and it generally has to be more than just small clean ups
Define “fixed” the model, what did you actually change, because changing dimensions with the scaling tool also isn’t a remix, nor is changing the orientation etc

Well i have learned something don’t actually complain about anything because people are just going to target you, since i posted here 4 more models that have been up for months got taken down, so i guess the lesson is do things the bambu way or don’t do them here, sure.
