Is H2D Laser combo still under NDA?

Am I the only one wondering why there is no in depth reviews of the laser cutting/ laser engraving, pen plotter or cutter modules?

The videos available only mention the features and bearly shows videos of the functionalities.
My only conclusions is that either the creators are still bound to NDA, or the new features is so bad that they don’t want to show them before its to late to cancel the preorders.

It’s likely more lack of interest by the reviewers in running lasers in their nice new 3D printer.

If their targeted reviewers don’t show interest. Why should the rest of the target audience ?
I’m a bit concerned.

There have been laser videos but they are by “random creatives” rather than the 3d print people you’re probably looking at.

The laser and vinyl cutter is a really different product for a different type of user.

Isn’t it then weird that they didn’t target more relevant creators when they distributed their printers to reviewers?

There is no exposure of the new features. Just random “forced” tests that really doesn’t give us “normal” buyers any insight of the quality of these features.

I’m sensing a unfinished product or that they are really missing their target audience on this product release.

They did, for example, HandsOnKatie and Galactic Armory got An H2D. They are general cosplay and maker channels, not 3d print channels. Katie got a laser, I don’t watch GA to know what they got. Thing is, these people don’t really review the printer. They just show what they made with it and explain how the printer helps their creative process.

edit: I watched GA. They got the one without the laser. HandsOnKatie has a laser.

Try the the ones that are focused on doing stuff as oppose to reviewing 3d printers. MM goes through using all the things.

Thanks mate.
Hopefully the lack of review of the new features doesn’t mean they are “bad”, but the review units were sent to 3D printing gocused reviewers.

The positive side of this might be that there is opportunities to make some content when my unit arrives :ok_hand:

Hey, my ears were burning…

For what it’s worth, this may be a product of Bambu’s very reasonable approach to reviews (at least in my experience) and partly me!

In short, I’m just not someone who can review something having used it for a day or two, so I’ve always said I want to test things for really prolonged periods (eg when I made a Bambu recommendation video, it was after 10,000+ hours of use of their printers that I’d bought myself), likewise with my lawnmowers etc.

Obviously (I hope) by the same logic, I won’t be forced to say anything - but Bambu are super relaxed about this too.

So in short, I wasn’t going to do one of those reviews where I print off all the standard models they provide and read out the stats that you can see on their website already. I always find it’s far more useful to just use it in anger on an actual project and see if you can break it!

In a funny sense, the lack of the usual canned reviews that you see on a lot of tech products may actually reflect positively on the fact Bambu aren’t asking for these sorts of things - they basically were just keen for me to play with it and make something!

That said, I’m more than happy to answer any questions if that helps - especially now I’ve been using it for quite a prolonged period.

There’s lots of questions/concerns I had before using that I’m happy to cover.

Eg some points in this thread about the laser/3d print combo - having used diodes, CO2s, fiber and more from many brands, I thought this would be a problem. It’s not the ‘rusting of soft metal’ points raised above (I mean soft metals don’t even rust, they corrode!), but the dust and OCs just haven’t been a problem at all.

In short it’s partly gravity (which takes almost all the larger components), partly design (like the rail setup) and partly just very strong extraction that I suspect tips almost all particles out the chamber before it has a chance.

Not going to vouch for 10,000 hours yet, but certainly it’s a very, very useable 3d printer and laser and I’ve been flipping between them constantly without any issues for six weeks or so…

Thank you so much for taking your time to answer my post. I just recently discovered your YouTube channel and watched your latest video on the H2D.
This is exactly the video I was looking for in regards of a more in depth review of the laser feature of the H2D. I love how you combine 3D printing and laser cutting and show the capabilities of this machine. The quality of production and content is next level.
You definitely got a new subscriber.
I was starting having second thoughts of spending close to 3500€ on the H2D Laser 40w + extra accessories, but your amazing video is just making me wanting the printer to get shipped as soon as possible
I really appreciate that you took your time to reply on my post, it means alot.
