Is HS PLA worth it?

Comparing regular PLA vs High Speed PLA, is the HS PLA worth the upgrade? I have never used it so I would like to hear from people that have on the pros and cons of using it with the A1 and A1 Mini.

In my honest opinion, maybe.

If you are running higher speeds you’ll benefit from the increased flow, however it’s not a huge difference.

I’ve used it, and forgot about it. Nothing wrong with it I just would rather take my time and get good quality than speedy finish. However I did find that it’s properties did increase standard quality a bit, but it needs to be dry.

To really take advantage you’ll have to calibrate it. Last time I looked it was cheaper than plain old PLA so nothing to lose.

I’ve tried it a couple of times. I didn’t have enough for my project, the HS was $10 cheaper then the regular PLA+ I was looking at…eSUN Fire Engine Red.
It looked a little darker on the spool, but it printed as the same color.

i got an orange pla+ HS filament but i could not really see a difference. Since i also slow down print in most cases for better quality. Also the quick benchy looked the same for me as my normal PLA+

Thanks for the response. So what about PLA+ or Pro? Is it all hype or actually stronger and more impact resistant? I have a whole lot of PLA I need to use and I mainly am gearing towards making PETG my most used filament for strength and UV resistance properties but I figured I would ask about all the modified PLA’s so I fully understand if it’s worth even trying.

I believe Stephan at CNC Kitchen did a few tests on those. I’ll try and find it but check him out on YouTube. Great channel.

Thanks. That was a great video and I learned a lot. I guess buying filament when on sale from the usual recommended brands works for me. I still am leaning towards PETG for most of my prints in the future even though the video showed PLA stronger than PETG which is hard to believe. But heat resistance is important as I live in Florida. I just bought 5 Bambu printers in the last week or two but haven’t unboxed any yet as I have to finish my little shelf for the access point for the wifi. I got 2 A1’s and 3 A1 mini’s with two of them with the AMS lites. :smile: I guess I got carried away after seeing a lot of positive reviews on YouTube.
