Is it inappropriate

Good day all. My wife and I are really enjoying the P1S and vases, light boxes and toys for the grandkids are the main focus.

I am enjoying the light boxes and we are thinking of doing some as Christmas gifts. I know Makerworld is a free place, and I love that, here is my question. Is it inappropriate for us to offer someone compensation for them to teach us how to turn clip art or logos into light box stl files.

I’m a retired veteran and I would love to do some unit patches for my buddies as gifts but I’m not sure where to start. I do not mind paying for the knowledge I just want to ensure I’m not violating anything in doing so.

Thank you

I can help you, message me privately if you’re interested :+1:

I don’t see how should be any issue if you want to pay somebody to help you.
But, as someone else said, just search on youtube, for sure you will find tons of tutorials to help you.

For the vases give a try to the MakeMyVase tool on MakerLab, it’s funny, it’s easy and you got your unique vase.

Swamp_Fox_CreationsVery nice to see you going strong.

I can’t imagine it would ever be inappropriate anywhere in the world… well, maybe not in New York  but anywhere else, sure, no problem.

Nothing inappropriate in that:)

Heck no, do whatever you want. I’d personally do that for you for free if I knew how to do what you wanted. I’d recommend you start with YouTube tutorials though, those are easy to come by. If you detail what you’re looking for I can help you or point you to the direction of a good tutorial. I personally learned with Vladimir Mariano/Desktop Makes’ Fusion 360 course on Udemy and Skillshare (the beginnner one) and am looking to take the advanced one that is available on his website. Careful though, you’re gonna end up with another printer if you go too far down the rabbit hole :rabbit:

This is really simple in Tinkercad or Autodesk Fusion. Just search up “Tinkercad SVG” or use this one I just found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9SkLmtaot4 (Tinkercad)

(EDIT: Sorry for the double replies, I thought I was editing the previous one )

This community is amazing. Thank y’all for the motivation and offers of assistance. I am going both directions and truly appreciate everyone’s attitude towards my off the wall question.

Great day to all.

That is very cool! Thank you for the point out

Trying, Haven’t been overly successful yet BUT, the old dog is learning new tricks thanks to people like you. ::Salute::

Just suggestions but someone here mentioned Inkscape and it’s free and very capable for tracing bitmap images and turning them into SVG format. SVG is a vector format that you can import into Autodesk Fusion (no cost for noncommercial use) and extrude into individual components you can save as STL files. Import the STL files as a single part into Bambu Studio, assign colors, and print.

Some other stuff is setting color print order (set in Studio in the nut icon for each build plate) generally starts with the lightest color and goes to the darkest.

Have fun!
