Daughter wanted me to print some board games, so i remembered about an ongoing contest and there i went. Page was sorted by Downloads and immediately the third most downloaded model was a top spin toy.
And then it hit me…
“Ok, no big deal. But i saw that already, exactly the one. Wait, i printed one a few years ago”
I’m still a firm believer in one entry each, I know that people like ozark might not like this but they don’t need a contest to show people how amazing their stuff is
And I know first hand that the most popular upload by metric isn’t always the winner, and others have identified this as well, so contests get used as a publicity boost as opposed to actual competing
It would also prevent contest spammers from being able to do 5 entries per account, and add some effort on their part
Stops stuff we saw early in the contest where one model was split into 5 entries etc
And with the guy that has cheated in mind in this topic, i also found the perfect game to print. Just have to see if i have some screws lying around.
I know she will love it and we can all play as a family too since it’s our kind of game.
Thank you @ozarkexpeditions for your entry. As soon as i scrolled down i fell in love with it and my wife said immediately “that’s the one”
Edit: Damn you handsome creators
Now i have to print 2. We all love dominoes so… Thank you @h3li0 for creating the model for this game that our own culture also plays a lot
Oh, sorry… Didn’t see that. I know that if kept scrolling i would put all of them in my “to print” list and then it would just die there… I can’t backlog
I don’t promise but will read the rules and what kind of game is that and then print it when possible. Time is not my friend and tomorrow both the printers will be working full time and the a1 mini and A1 will also be working in my garage, open to the public, to show parents and kids that have no contact or don’t know what is 3d printing.
I sure hope not. I think i don’t have any more kids around the world… at least i hope
But you made me laugh loud…loud enough for the wife to “shhhh” me
I wouldn’t mind if contests only had one entry or five entries as the rule. I can see how both have value to put your best model(s) forward. I could almost see the master series of contests only allowing one entry and the others allowing for five entries.
Many people don’t contribute to all contests, so if someone is really interested in a topic and has five models that really align with the theme, I say go for it.
I saw that too. I was excited because my game has been more popular than I expected and was the top trending game in the board game contest. Then I see this take over the top spot with nearly twice as many downloads. It was just uploaded on Thursday, a day later than mine.
I am very thankful and excited that my game is doing great. It was a lot of long and tedious work to get it to the finish line. But it takes a little wind out my sails to see a low effort copycat/remix break the rules and gain as much success.
