It seems like part of the reason for multiple plates would be to use different settings for each plate, but I cannot seem to find a way.
Does anyone know how, or if it is possible?

I agree this will be useful, along with ability to name each plate in the prepare stage
Naming was going to be my next question.
I would also like the ability to move plates to the side list in prepare, like the preview shows them.
If I am creating a project with more than four plates it gets hard to manage in prepare.
I just submitted bambu studio bugs for both naming and settings per plate
Naming is supported in OrcaSlicer since the last version, maybe in bambu Slicer next…
I don’t know if slicing per plate make sense since slicing per object is possible.
you can set global settings per plate like plate type already and then you can go to the plate selection in the object tree and select all object from plate:
Slicing per plate makes sense to me. Imagine a project with 30 parts. If ten of those parts can fit on one plate and they get sliced the same that is a lot less work than slicing all 30 individually.
You can still slice all 30 objects at the same time, you just need to apply the settings to the objects on each plate. There is no need to slice 30 objects individually.
I’ve done it. I think what Thrawn is getting at (correct me if I am wrong) you change your object settings on the advanced tab per object. then you can slice and print the entire plate.
Example, one plate can have as you said, 30 objects on it, and you can have different individual settings for each object insofar as what the settings on the object tab will allow.
If you have half of them that require a different setting that does not show up on the individual options, then I would create yet another plate with that particular setting that you need.
Yes, its exactly what I meant.
And yes, I forgot that you cannot change all settings, though most can be changed per object.
I am going to try to summarize a bit.
I had not noticed that plates show up under objects. I am used to Prusa Slicer and the objects being visible. I sometimes forget to actually look at the objects.
Settings are applied hierarchically starting with
Which settings can be overridden at each level of decomposition varies.
I think trying not to select objects from multiple plates to adjust settings is probably a good idea. But I can see arranging plates in a project so that plate 1 always needs to be printed, but depending on what options you want, you might print objects on plate2 or plate 3 to get a full set of objects.
I think it would be nice to right click on any item in the object list and rename it. This could be extremely useful if an object is copied and one copy uses a modifier to change the internal structure. The difference between the two instances would not be apparent with a cursory glance at the prepare view.
It is nice to be able to name the plate, but that is a terrible place to put it. Plates already have a right click context menu, which would be one place for rename.
Direct input would be the best way. Just click on the existing name and it becomes editable.
Thank you. That was the clue I needed.
