I have a few models where I have added negative parts or other significant modifications within the .3mf print file that render the model unprintable if someone tries to download the .stl files and print that way. I make sure to note this in the description of these models… but people don’t always see that.
Is there any way to just disable .stl downloads for a model and only offer the .3mf file?

I haven’t checked Makerworld’s automatic stl creation after 3mf is uploaded. But I just tested this in Bambu Studio 2.1.1.52 when trying to export an object as stl that has negative parts you will get this popup, “Negative parts detected. Would you like to perform mesh boolean before exporting?”
You could perform this operation, then replace the original object with this new one. That would at least eliminate negative part concerns.
As for other print profile settings, I think when someone downloads only the STL they’re going to miss out on the designers print settings.
One other thing you could do to ensure compatibility is design your own supports so they’re part of your model and eliminates another slicer dependency.
yeah, if I could, I would, but it fails on this particualr model when I run that
Not really, people can still just export the STL from the 3MF anyway in the slicer, if the model absolutely needs that negative part you’re better off just modelling it that way from the start
It has failed every time I have tried also. I am not sure what is going on. I noticed it fails when it is a part that I have cut due to size.
In-slicer mesh boolean has only been successful for me in adding things, never for a negative part. Your mileage may vary.
To subtract things quickly and with relatively high fidelity you can use MS 3D Builder. Place the two objects, unselect the main body, select the cutout body, “subtract”. Tinkercad does this too, if you’re familiar, but the whole files geometry gets low res when you export out of tinkercad.
Yeah I use Tinkercad a lot but as you mention it doesn’t do a great job with imported stl files. I have a mac so can’t use the MS tool, plus they discontinued it apparently.
