Hi - I am looking to combine two files (layers 1-10 from one file, layers 1-20 from another). For my Prusa printers I would just open the gcode of both files in an editor and cut/paste, then have the printer print the resulting .gcode file.
I cannot seem to fine a way to do the equivalent for Bambu (X1C if it matters) – can I edit the gcode directly somehow and have it then be sent to the printer to print? TY!
You can do so most easy using Orca Slicer, a fork of Bambu Studio.
Works basically the same, but has more features, including g-code export.
Then you can copy the files together, put them either on an SD card or upload to internal storage of the printer via SFTP and start the print from the display.
Obviously yes, gcode are simpe text files, so you can edit and modify them easily with a text editor, but merging two different gcode files may be a little risky if you dont know what the gcode commands do and how they works, for example, if one file is using relative positioning or such you will have big trouble.
I created a socket for a tea light electronics. In the slicer I cutted the existing base socket from the Bunny Buddha, imported my tea light socket and put it below the Bunny. This all is a little bit tricky, but it has worked and the following print was very straight forward.
