I was hoping Bambu Lab’s next mid-tier printer (maybe an X2C or something similar) would feature a tool/nozzle changer, but I was a bit disappointed by the FCC documents that came out a few days ago.
However, seeing this new document uploaded yesterday really surprised me. Could the ‘C’ in the new P3C filing actually stand for a nozzle/tool changer in the P-series?
A few questions for the community:
What are your price predictions?
Is a November release highly likely at this point, or should we expect to wait even longer?
What are your overall thoughts and theories on these new filings?
Honestly not sure. I did predict that the P-Series would most likely add a second nozzle though. My guess is it’ll have a 2 nozzle setup akin to the H-Series. And “maybe” will have a small Vortek system? Maybe not? But the 2 nozzles are what I’ve seen since the introduction of the P2S. That was designed to have a second nozzle. Beyond that second nozzle, I’ve not a clue.
Maybe there’s also an “educational version” that gently forces people to read the wiki or the instructions first. The printer could stay in a locked state until you pass a tiny quiz - just a few super‑simple questions to prove you actually looked at the basics. If you fail, it politely refuses to turn on and nudges you back to the documentation.
Pretty sure it will be a tool swapper like H3C but with 4-6 tools to compete with K3 and U1. Price will have to be in the same region (slightly higher) as those printers.
I sure hope so. I love my P2S and I now also love my FlashForge Creator 5 Pro. I’ve been dreaming every night since I got the C5 that something would startle me in the middle of the night, and the two would be mating! I’m not a 3D printer enthusiast, I’m an entrepreneur and somehen something just works and helps run my business(es) better and more efficiently I don’t really give a Shiv who makes it, or how. I’m a fan of just copying what works and right now, my P2S and my my Creator 5 Pro machines work very well so the only way to really make them better is to combine them into one. I am very very confident that Bambu Lab is just going to take a page from Apples playbook on this one. Why reinvent something that is working? It took Apple almost a decade to finally make a folding phone, price it ridiculously high and people are going to buy it! I feel that Bambu will stick with a similar strategy going forward into the tool changer era. I just really hope it doesn’t take a decade because I have a massive pile of Makerworld points about to break the strings on their satchel, I want to trade them all for Creator 5 Pro’s with a Bambu Lab sticker on them!
P3C has to have more than 4 nozzles or it won’t be any more utile than a U1. And Bambu has to get rid of the single-feed AMS System. One feed for each nozzle please! I would buy a machine like this for sure.
i bet a 4 tool toolchanger (think snapmaker u1) with an ams3 pro (i.e. an ams 2 with 4 outputs, one into each nozzle). but no chamber heater and priced similar to a p2s. quite an attractive proposition…
I sure hope it’s 6 nozzles and heated chamber or else that part of the market won’t go well for them, preferably 8. If the AMS 3 pro is a 5-ptfe tube system (as per the patents), It’s probably most likely 5 and I’m going to be sad.
Complete Guess: Since it is not an X series, it will not be premium top-of-the-line printer. It will have 1 nozzle on the tool head, not two like the X2D. This will lower costs. It will be more then a P2S, but not much. It will be 649-799ish without AMS. 899-999ish With AMS. Expect the X2D to lower in price after black friday before the launch of the P3C and stay there.
A “P3C” as a cheaper, enclosed, hotend-swapping successor to the P1S/P2S line is plausible, since it would follow the H2C’s playbook. It’ll be the poor mans H3C.
