Is the filament cutter lever required for operation?

The screw attaching my filament cutting lever has a rounded head and can’t be properly grasped with an allen wrench key. I managed to get it out, but I can’t put it back in that way.

The bambu store is out of the cutter levers. And the screw in question is rather specialized (it has the end of the threads machined off).

Question: Is that lever just for manually cutting the filament, and if so, can I run the printer without it properly in place until I can get a replacement?

The lever kit is due back in stock next week. You should have put yourself on the notify list.

When the head goes to the front left is when the filament is cut. There’s post there that activates the cut lever. I’m pretty sure you’d get a filament retraction error without having the lever in place to cut the filament.

You could Dremel a slot in the head of the screw so you can use a slotted screwdriver. Then reinstall it while you wait for the replacement.
