Is there a speed/flow limit hard-coded into P1S?

P1S with E3D Obxidian nozzle (high-flow, 4-channel) and Jayo PLA+ filament.

I am trying to establish max flow rate, so I run Max Flow Test, but it finished without any perceivable loss of quality. I was hearing noticeable changes in sound throughout the test, so I know it was getting faster. However, as this test tops out at 34mm3/s, I was looking for something that can go faster, so I set up an OrcaSlicer VFA test starting at 400mm/s up to 725mm/s, 25mm/s increments. Again, it completed it without any loss of quality, which would translate to 51mm3/s of flow (as reported by preview of the sliced model in Orca), but I am doubtful. This time, I did not hear noticeable change in sound throughout the test, but maybe it was not noticeable…

Anyway, I made sure that in both tests:

  • Filament flow max limited to 50mm3 (1st test) and 200mm3 (Orca VFA test)
  • “Slow Printing for better layer cooling” disabled
  • Machine Motion: X and Y speed limits set to 725mm/s

Any thoughts?

Can this flow test override the filament settings? If not, test that the filament max flow rate isn’t set to the default of 21 mm3/s or something like that. I’d just enter 100 mm3/s to be sure it doesn’t pose a limit.

As I said, the filament settings were 50 and 200 respectively, so they were not the limiting factor.
