Is there an easy way to insert a layer?

I am creating a keyring. I have created my face design.
Is there an easy way to have:
face design 5 layers thick
Solid black 10 layers thick
face design 5 layers thick

to reduce the number of filament changes?

Yep, you can use the paint tool to paint the middle 10 layers black. There is a by layer option.

Also besides the faces I don’t think it will do color changes anyway.

The slicer shows full colour on every layer

Ahh ok, I apologize then. Did you try the layer painting option?

Without showing slicing images everything we provide is guess work.

The images should also include the objects list of parts.

Despite that, you could add a height layer modifier, set the from and to heights to cover the area you wish to be solid black. Set the colour of the modified are to black.

If you have actual painted areas in this range, they may remain, thus the screenshots.
