Is there any pattern/logic to choosing contest winners?

It seems almost random. The winner of the travel essentials contest is a fine model, but I have a hard time understanding how it was deemed the winner. Same with the 3rd place winner. These are more of a camping accessory than a ‘travel essential’. Perhaps the essence of what this contest was meant to be was lost in translation? I’d really love to understand how the contest winners are chosen. Maybe they just let a small group of internal employees vote or something.

To be clear - congrats to the winners for sure - I just am hoping to better understand the reasoning behind the selections.

Ahh, one of the great mysteries of the universe. How often we’ve speculated, argued, talked about.

You put models in and what comes back is a list of winners, but what rhyme or reason there is; it is not for us to know. I’m not entirely convinced even Makerworld knows. I’d speculate that even the employees that vote, they don’t know. When they enter that room to choose the winners; all they are, and will ever be, ceases to exist; if but a moment. A collective of one, a mystery to all; they are something else not of this universe, and what comes from it is a list of winners.

Should we question it? Like scholars for centuries trying to find the deeper meaning of life; will we ever come to any sort of conclusion that tames our hearts?

This topic comes up at the end of each contest. The MakerWorld team has been adding an extra description to the winners as of late, but I don’t see it for this contest. Maybe it will be added soon for this contest. Looking through the selections they all seem spot on with travel related items and I would put camping in the travel section, for sure.

Nah it’s more raving about how awesome it is than actual useful insight.

Whichever one captures their eye after a drunken lunch requiring a random answer from all on the committee.

These things are often useless information

It feels like they AI gen some of them!

I was pretty excited about one contest and thought for sure I knew 2-3 models that would at least place. None of them did, and one placed that was hideous and literally had zero downloads, lol. There were also two models of the same thing, styled different but still.

At this point contests are really just a way to get more eyeballs on your models, don’t expect much even if your model is clearly one of the higher effort and higher quality uploads.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that if your entry has the highest likes, downloads, makes, rates, collects, etc

It still might not win
