I received a message from a user saying he couldn’t print a model I posted. he sent me a screenshot showing the error message “Incompatible printer model” (translated from German). The model dimensions are 93.7 x 93.7 x 250 mm, and he is using a P1S printer exclusively through the phone app.
On my A1, the print worked without any issues. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Could someone with a P1S check if they get the same error message or have any insights? I’d really like to make my models compatible with all Bambu Lab printers. This is the Model The Jägermeister, a timeless classic by NexNex2024 - MakerWorld
Your model is only compatible with A1 on both profiles. If you’re using print-by-object that could cause issues with printer compatibility. Open your 3mf in Bambu Studio, switch printer to p1s and see whether the slicer complains too.
It looks like you selected only the A1 when uploading the model.
Edit it an add the X and P series printers to it. The option is at the botton of the edit page.
Are they trying to use a printer profile other than the actual model being used ?
example i own an A1 so trying to use this profile throws up a similar error
Your screenshot is from Bambu Studio, not the mobile app. Normally, the app should handle this automatically, but for some reason, it didn’t this time. I believe this is related to the “Auto-check compatibility for the following printers” feature. I’m not sure what adjustments would make it work for users with the phone app and a P1S or other Bambu printers. All printers are ticked there.
They usually default to the printer model the file was created on/with , your case it would be A1 , i recently printed a model on a A1 Mini which isnt listed on its profiles page
In my opinion, it should work for the P1S since it has the same print bed size and all. I can only recommend the user to install Bambu Studio on a PC to see if that resolves the issue. If I made an error in the profile and someone knows how to fix it for those using the phone app with other Bambu printers (excluding the A1 Mini), please let me know. That way, more people would be able to print my models.
I assume you mean setting it up in Bambu Studio on a PC? If I do it there, I can select the P1S, and it works fine. However, in the phone app, you can’t add a printer you don’t own—at least not as far as I know. The phone app seems to be the issue here. The user is only using the phone app, and it’s not working for him.
Try slicing in BS using P1S as the printer. If it works, replace your profile with P1S and see how the auto slicer works with it. I guess itll then enable X1/P1 and A1
Do note that this temporary profile is now compatible with all 256x256x256 printers something makes the auto slicer not like your A1 profiles and marks it as A1-only
Hey everyone! I just heard back from Support, and it turns out that some Bambu printers can’t use their full build volume when an AMS is attached:
I find it pretty surprising, and it actually makes me even happier with my printer choice—especially since I originally picked it just to save some money! Using the A1 myself, it’s odd that the more expensive models are not only noticeably louder at almost the same speed but also have a smaller usable build volume than advertised. From my experience, if you put the A1 in a simple insulated pop-up enclosure from Amazon, it can handle larger PETG prints without warping. Of course, it’s not as neat and polished as a factory-made enclosure. And for some models, the bedslinger design might have its drawbacks, though the software compensation seems to do a pretty good job.
My A1 has already started showing error messages about a heating issue with the print bed after just two months of use. Maybe the more expensive models are built better in that regard and more reliable. That said, Support was good and they quickly sent me a replacement heatbed.
I’m really curious to see what the next generation of Bambu printers will bring!
Yeah I hit that same wall too… Designed it for Bambu printers with their max build size in mind only to find out Bambu is not completely honest about their build sizes
I had to create a separate print profile where I split one of the parts to fit the core xy machines:
