Issue with logo on object again, round 2

I am working on another image and this one is doing the same thing regarding displaying 1 color versus three. I have imported the logo STL file, updated the coloring and then moved and scaled the object as needed. I then performed a merge. I cannot see where to attach a file to show my 3mf. I did not want to clog up the forum with so many replies. I wish this was an easier process.

Some of the logos I have just printed and glued them together but prefer blending the 2 together. I am sorry to keep bugging you.

Hi @CrackerJack ,

You can just copy-paste the 3mf into the text you are writing.

Alternatively, there’s the small upload icon at the lower right which enables you to browse your files.

Best wishes,
Eno

On the other blue GID stand I am currently printing with normal PLA.
Attached is the new 3mf file.

OK, that was a tricky one.

I played around with slicer settings, getting the same result as you. First, I expected the issue being the “Detect thin walls” being greyed out. Exporting one part and the Logo as an stc and reimporting them into a new project did allow me to enable that option and get a good slice.

However, changing settings in your 3mf did not result in the same slice.

So I suspected that there may be something wrong with the Logo-file. Right clicking the Logo stl and then selecting “Fix model” did exactly that. Note that I converted the Logo to a modifier as before.

Wow, thank you! Were you able to fix the other side as well? I was able to get 2 other stands with logos working and printed successfully! I am slowly getting there. How long have you been working with Bambu Studio? My goal is to eventually build some of my own 3D models from scratch.

I just loaded the project and i receive the following error. It also gave a notification that it was created by a BS beta version. Should I download and install it?

Hi @CrackerJack ,

I did not assemble and fix it for the other side but you should be able to do that by simply cloning the repaired logo.
It is a good practice for getting into Studio as well. Most things can be done by right clicking and remembering that every setting counts. So best to only change when you have read the relevant description, many of which are explained in the Bambu wiki and accessible by clicking the entry.

My own Studio/Orca journey started 2 years ago. Coming from Cura, I was a bit anxious at first but after about 2 weeks, I felt confident. The important thing is not to be afraid to just do. In my case, I gave myself printing challenges (upscaled miniatures from Thingiverse, then in PETG, etc…).

However, Studio is not a CAD tool. So to make your own models from scratch, it is not the right tool. It “merely” transforms a geometry into a CAM-file.

You do want a dedicated Computer Aided Design program for that.

  • Tinkercad is said to be easy (and is free),
  • FreeCAD is free (but not easy),
  • OneShape is both free and (reasonably) easy.
    Others do amazing stuff in
  • Blender or
  • Fusion 360.
    I myself like the
  • Maker version of SolidWorks. It may not be free, but I got a cheap licence last year. Dassault however is known for a, well, lets call it a “dynamic” pricing policy.
So I am not deactivating my OneShape account :joy:

Mhm, that could be a problem. Unforrunately, I’ll only be back at my laptop Friday evening.
I do have Bambu Studio 02.02. beta installed although it should not make the cruxial difference.

I’d advise to

  • open your original file,
  • right click the logo,
  • select “fix model” and
  • wait until completed. You can then
  • copy the objects to
  • new plates and
  • “merge” before
  • changing the logo object to a “Modifier” and
  • fine runing position (including z) and rotation.
That is much easier and quicker than it sounds. Just relax and do not be afraid to try things out in Studio. Risking mistakes is the only way to get comfy with the program.
