Issue With P1P Order: "Potentially Suspicious"

Hi everyone!

I’m new to the Bambu scene but not to 3D printing. I’ve been wanting to try out the P1P for a few months now and finally went ahead the other day to purchase one. I was really excited until last night when I got an email (seemingly) from Bambu saying my order was flagged as a fraud risk and that I needed to verify my ID.

They requested I send in an email a picture of my credit card and ID to verify if its me. This seemed really odd to me as a request for verification. I understand being cautious of customer fraud but to me this seems over the top. I reached out to Bambu through their support link to verify if this was even them in the first place. Just curious if anyone else has dealt with this or if any Bambu staff members could give guidance.

Thank you for reading!

Even if it turns out to be Bambu, which I highly doubt, I would NEVER send a picture of my credit card via email, or any other way for that matter.

my exact thoughts, just waiting to hear back and hope they can provide a better option for me to verify my purchase. Only thing that has me thinking its them is that they included the correct order number in the email and i also saw someone on a reddit thread who got a similar email a few months back.

That’s just all kinds of bad choices if it turns out to be Bambu. I wonder if that is an official policy or just a decision a rogue customer service rep made.

@SirWill I know you are very busy but any chance you can pipe in on this one? Does this sound legit to you?

Send me a private message on here with your email address. Also if you log in to the site what does the status of your order say? That is very strange and not normal.

I will do right now! Thanks @SirWill

Update for anyone who is concerned about this. What we ask for is the pictures as he says but we say to cover the credit card number so it can’t be seen. This happens sometimes when the billing and shipping address are not the same and also if the IP address of the order is in a flagged region sometimes.

Thanks for clarifying. This sounded sketchy as heck. The regional flags make sense though, sadly.

Apologizes for not making this point clear in initial post, my first time ever dealing with this and wanted to be sure everything was correct.

Thank you @SirWill for clarifying that for everyone.

We appreciate you being up front on everything.

I had a similar thing but it was my bank checking on my purchase. Making sure it was legit. Seems like they don’t trust China either
