Issue with PETG spool

I’m still new to 3D printing, so this maybe a newbie question.
I recently bought my second spool of black PETG and it is like a rock. The filament strands are stuck together. It feed off about one turns worth of filament and then broke.
I have it now stored in a airtight conatainer and the humidity is down to 15%. Am I doing something wrong? or is there a simple fix I am missing?
I have had no issues with my other PETG or PLA spools.
Thanks

Is it fused together or just wound a bit too tightly? If its partly fused it could have gotten too hot (+70C) during transport and you should contact the seller to get a replacement/refund.

Thanks. It has fused together.
The spool came from Bambu so I have raised a support ticket for replacement/credit note.

I started using anycubic petg for around 12 bucks per kg petg when you get 2 and even cheaper when bulk buying, bbl petg at a much higher price point is worthless and prints worse for sure. I suggest if you don’t need specific colored petg from bbl to just get credit from them to buy replacement/spare parts and get another brand of petg

if you are using the stock petg profile from bambu, you need to change a lot of stuff to get good quality prints. Their petg profile isn’t as well tuned as their pla.

Some needed changes for example include but not limited to:

first layer and top surfaces 40mm/s
all other speeds to 80mm/s
enable retraction in filament settings, type spiral

Based on what you described, there is no acceptable way filament strands on a spool should ever be fused together. I did this once by overcooking a PETG spool using my oven during a drying experiment. It was a good lesson in what not to do.

The answer is simple and doesn’t require much analysis. If the product arrived in that fashion then the product is defective. Return it for a refund or new spool.
