Its a 3d Printed Door (Insert)!

I managed to get this mostly printed before my printer started playing up. Just thought I’d share.

Would I design it the same if doing it again? - No.

Is it pretty - No.

Cost Effective? - No.

3d Printed? - Yes. WIN!!!

Is the rain staying outside now? - Yes…also a secondary win!

Lots of good learning in this. I iterated through a few designs/prints for test fitting. My first prints with PETG. Mixed PETG & TPU for weather sealing. The dog flap was my first time using the smooth PEI plate. Also first time following advice I read about getting letters to turn out well even though I had no letters - Outside walls first, face down on plate, and Arachne. Worked great for the dog/cat image. Learned a lot about how not to stick 3d prints together. Also learned a lot about warping and brims. Some 3d Gloop would have been nice. Also my first designed & printed ‘print in place’ hinges…took a lot of iterating to get the strength and functionality!

Anyway, once my printer is fixed it will be on to the next project!

P.S. The flap is super smooth in person. Photo doesn’t do it justice. Very happy with the smooth plate. I thought there would be warping but none at all.
