It's been a year - and overall I ❤️ it - here are my findings

Hi guys -

in the beginning, almost 1 year ago of obtaining an X1C after watching some YouTube influencer , I had mixed results with this printer.

I had huge expectations, lots of frustrations and then…it would work great and then it wouldn’t so much etc

it definitely was because of my expectations after owning multiple Prusa printers for many years and thinking the same way of “doing things” applied to the X1C, which is not the case at all.

Yes there are some inconsistency related issues (the Lidar can be glitchy) I was experiencing, possibly some bugs - but overall I got passed all that.

This community has been very helpful so a big thank you to you all.

One thing for me was disabling all the AI stuff in the X1C control menu as per another member, that helped a lot with some weird things I was experiencing from time to time - but also the type of filament being used and the procedures to setup slicer and profile settings are very important.

I am in love with the PETG HF filament. I bought a bunch of refills, dry them out for about 12 hrs before using them and they print really well and consistently WITH default settings and NO banding, especially with black and through holes in the sides of the models.

I was using Overture from Amazon all these years and just thought I could use the same filament - NOT all filament is the same and you need to test and perform trials and yes you will get errors and need to tweak etc.

Overall I love it now and I want to buy another - I have 3 AMS systems as well (2 are hooked up to the X1c) - they work well for the most part too - though I don’t do too much multiple color printing yet.

My question - I want to buy another Bambu - but don’t think I need an X1C and want to spend that much again. I am looking at the P1P and P1S.

I print mostly PLA and PETG. I don’t think I need and enclosure. Just wanted to get your thoughts on this and see what you all may recommend and experiences you had.

Thanks

As a partially-sigthed person, I would love to see some paragraphs in your post, something to break it up to make it readable.

Everything blurs together.

Thanks for sharing, it was nice to read. It’s always the question of “which death you want to die”. Reading different views based on experience is always interesting :slightly_smiling_face: Thanks for your perspective.

I think it’s also the question of when to buy, for me at the moment, when I absolutely need it or absolutely want it.

On my list is the M5 Pro and non Pro version. However, only for the production of parts that do not have any question marks. Pro only because the non Pro parts fit on it (spare parts) and I can do the math. However, I can’t say how far this affects the circuit boards.

On my personal watch list are:

Qidi Tech X-Plus 4, but it’s still too early for me to buy, enthusiasm usually gets too many wings.

Phrozen Arco - It`s late. The question is whether they’re still working out the last mistakes or struggling to get it out at all. But the early bird probably saved little money. They’ve probably already noticed that train for such prices has left last summer.

But there are also many very cheap printers that are hotly discussed by many - but I don’t have them on the list

I understand what you mean. The best way you can see this is if you go to my profile and check my activity you will see all the different posts when I was going on a rant or a tear. I was not a fan at first. One of them is listed as “my love-hate relationship” But if I had to summarize it really had to do with expectations of using the printer with what I learned using Prusa and thinking the same applied. Such as using the same filament using default settings adjusting Z axis outer wall banding , expectations with different plates and adhesion, infill settings wall settings filament temperatures etc. if there’s something more specific you’d like me to dive into deeper let me know but most of those posts are already in the forum - If I can be of assistance let me know

My point is, your posts need paragraphs.

This is a paragraph, a gap between one group of thoughts and another,

It helps to space out your thoughts into related sections with spaces between.

It helps the reader judge what you are talking about more easily, allows people to scan and most importantly, it gives spaces your eyes can start and stop easily.

For partially sighted people, having those gaps allows us to read what you wrote. Otherwise, everything groups together and each line blends into another.

It also makes it far more readable for people with good eyesight as it is the commonly accepted way of writing.

Paragraphs are you friends.

You will notice I have written my response using many paragraphs, each one with related sentences grouped within and new points starting a new paragraph.

Feel free to ignore my suggestion, it just means you are getting help from less people than you could be.

I couldn’t read more than a few words before everything merged into a word salad.

I apologize I misunderstood you.

I thought you meant to be more specific in the areas of the content.

I didn’t realize you actually meant the actual layout of the post.

I am so used to using voice to text and working quickly I don’t take the time to format usually, nor did I think of how it would appear to others

I will take your suggestion.

Stay well

Its been 2 weeks for me. I so far love the printer. I am sure I have frustrations up coming. But there is one thing I am not very happy about:

Spend $1500 on a printer and I can’t even post a question in this forum. I don’t get that.

Awesome have fun - yeah I hear ya

  • they want you to perform a few steps before you can start posting.

  • I think there is a checklist in your profile as you start to gain achievements more forum access is unlocked.

I did read the readme… I’m just saying from a guy that did product support for what sometimes seems like a thousand years, on all kinds of products mostly factory automation. If you bought, you were in the forum no questions asked.

It just seems odd to me to spend $$$ on a printer and be treated a little like a spammer.

I do fully understand there are spammers and trolls. Trust me, been doing this a long time. But Bambu seems to know who I am. I’ve registered my printer. You would think that unlocks at least basic question post ability.

To me, the P1S is the sweet spot. Most, if not all, of the features you need, for a significantly less prices than the X1C. Personally, I think using an enclosure for PETG is a good idea. And as time goes on, you may progress to other filaments like ABS or ABA, which definitely need an enclosure. If you get the P1P, you’re limiting yourself.

Also, if you get the P1S, I’d highly recommend adding the BigTree Panda Touch display. The included control panel is adequate, but the Panda Touch is much more like the X1C and doesn’t cost too much.
