What this new firmware version is supposed to add, change and/or improve on X1 series ? And what happens if the new beta makes the X1 crash or (even worse) gets it damaged? Would BL replace the damaged parts or (even) replace a damaged printer? What’s the benefit ?

Crickets. Chirp, chirp, chirp.

just signed up i think still new to bambu

Click the link and read it.

Thing is, I’ve read it all and the clause 7 still raises questions (in fact, the entire beta testing T&Cs raises questions), which is why I’ve specifically asked the questions listed in my previous post.

Clause 7 seems pretty cut and dry to me. They’re basically saying “if you experience problems that negatively affect your machine, we will provide solutions to fix it”

What they do say it’s pretty much ambiguous and vague and doesn’t guarantee any BL commitment for providing replacement parts if one gets his printer damaged during the testing process. Re-read carefully the first 2 sentences. BL clearly say that there are risks of both software and hardware damages involved, and all that BL is committing to provide is “support”. And BL’s existing “customer support” is infamously known for being (almost) non-existent (one can easily find and read the horrible experiences plenty of users had to face when requesting replacement parts that have had failed, for no users faults, during the warranty period). Also, in conjunction with clause 7, do pay attention to clause 2 and second paragraph of clause 9…
Consequently, I would rather have BL publicly and unambiguously commit to fully replace any and all damaged parts and components (including replacing the entire printer, where and when applicable) resulted from testing their beta firmware.

If you’re not comfortable, just don’t sign up

@drakko I second you on this from a point of having had to deal with other manufactures.

Obviously, absent the above mentioned public written commitment for replacement parts and/or repairs, I wouldn’t risk damaging my X1C for which I’ve spent quite a large amount of hard earned money. And while I’m not criticizing, or disputing, other users’ decision of using their own printers as beta testers (after all, it’s their money, their printers… and, potentially, their loss), I do believe that subscribing as beta testers under such shady and vague T&Cs, without any written guarantees, is reckless.

Shady is a bit disingenuous

I understand the first 2 sentences very clearly. It’s a Beta firmware, there are going to be risks. You’re picking this apart way too much. It’s been the same for every other private beta firmware they’ve released.

I’m not sure if your ragging on bambu’s support due to personal experience or if you’re just echoing, but I’ve never had a problem contacting and finding a resolution to my problems out of the 5 or 6 times I’ve had to contact CS. I’m not sure where you’re getting this “non existent CS” thing from but that’s simply not true.

If you’re not comfortable with the terms, they’re not forcing you to test the beta firmware. You can wait for the public release.

Let’s just simply agree to … disagree.
As for the beta testing, in the absence of more substantial guarantees, obviously I’m not interested.
Have a great day.

Beta Testing firmware for ANY product that I have tested for the last 30 years, and there has been a LOT of them, has always included the risk of bricking your system.

That includes testing software on $750,000 machines for manufacturing.

Beta is VERY Beta. We cannot explain why we sign up for it, we just have to.

Then they’ll tell you you’re out of warranty and here’s the list of parts you need to buy to fix it.

Then let you know the update was at your own risk :upside_down_face:

joined the beta group . had the confirmation email & message saying
" You have been added as a member of the [X1_Beta_Users ] group."
however when i click on the group link i get " Oops! That page doesn’t exist or is private."

Go to the main page and scroll all the way to the bottom. You should see the x1 private beta testing area there.

I mean this reads to me like Bambu lab is simply (C.T.A) haha. Otherwise to fully crash and ruin a machine you the software and programming would essentially need to be altered so severely for that to happen which I’d expect the OS to just crash before that would happen.

Plus you need to take into account they’re loading the same beta software onto their test machines alongside allowing us to do the same. They just don’t have the personnel to test 24/7 themselves plus they want the community feedback.

Now having a few of each printer I’m okay with being in a BETA for atleast 1 machine series. Just don’t load it onto the others

Theres stages of development pf course. I mean pre-alpha, alpha, beta then most of the time a release candidate or something along those lines of a semi complete Stable release.

Being based in Washington State I’m fortunate enough to of had the opportunity to be part of the Xbox team and Microsoft studios alpha and beta test teams. Wish I could talk about some of those experiences but I stay true to NDA’s
