I’ve read so many threads here about people selling other peoples designs on e-commerce sites, re-uploading them to other model sites, even winning Makerworld contests with them. When I read all these posts I thought, “Sigh I wish I could make models good enough to be stolen”…I even joked on the contest thread that the only sure fire way to prevent that was to make crappy designs… well people I’ve got HUGE news! I’ve finally arrived, someone is selling one of MY designs on Etsy! I can’t express how much pride I’m experiencing right now!
Ok, ok, I know this isn’t stealing. He attributed me and that’s all the license requires. I seriously do feel like this is an achievement though lol. Will people really pay $25 for that?
Now a Turkish website is selling one of my models too! They are even using my picture LOL… this one is only $4 though, that’s probably more realistic than the Etsy guy.
almost every week, i get a message on reddit/insta/makerworld about someone finding one of my files on etsy etc.
It’s okay actually, i’ve never told people they can’t sell my stuff as long as they wanna put in the work to print and ship it.
the one exception was a person that just used my photos and blurred the background… if they can’t even take the time to print the project first before trying to sell it, they don’t deserve the opportunity
He sells it cheaper for the US than for the EU (almost 30 bloody euros, and that without shipping costs).
No chance I’m paying than amount when i can simply download your file and print them myself. It will definitely be much cheaper (and still have quite a
bit of filament left at the end, for that price) and have fun doing it, and “showing the birdie” to your would-be thief…
No worries mate. Some perps might sell your stuff as abstract art… and probably offer a large discount to those buying more than one or two at the time… You’ll get pirated too… just give it a bit more time…eventually you’ll make it too.
