Jammed hotend

  • So, seems I had a clog nozzle due to petg and now I am unable to remove the hot end for cleaning. I would suppose heating it than removing it when still hot but I don’t think I have heat resistant gloves delicate enough to manipulate.

Else, how do you clean it all? What products? At what temperature I raise it? Can I/ should I dismount the whole assembly? If so how?

heat it up, then carefully remove with a paper towel or rag as “gloves”. Move the clip with tweezers.

Heat to PLA, 210. 175 will probably do it though. First remove the nozzle and assess if anything like the extruder needs to be removed as well.

Cleaning, heat is your friend here, maybe a brass brush. This is one of those times where a heat gun is invaluable. Patience is needed, but once you get started you’ll see it’s not that big a deal.

Thanks found part of it in the hotend assembly removal (not expected) but in the process broke the back plastic tab of the part fan : :pensive:

Cleaning the clasp sheet (left part) that hold the hotend in place is a pain.

My kingdom for a heatgun

You can get the fan if needed. You can also pick up a cheap heat gun on Amazon. I normally wouldn’t recommend a cheap one but if you’re just using it for cleaning hot ends no need for an expensive one.

Good luck and take it slow.
