Dimensions of desk:
18.5"x29".
Am I correct that the 18.5" section would be too small for the X1C?

The enclosure is 389 × 389 × 457 mm³, or 15.3" square. Add 3.5" for the rear mounted spool holder. Add a few more inches of rear clearance to slide a spool on and off the holder. So technically it could fit, but you would not be able to put the desk tight against a wall. And you should have room in back for a container to catch the poop, or a chute to divert it to the side.
A side mount spool holder will save a couple inches of depth and is more convenient to use.
A small desk is probably not very heavy or rigid, so I’d probably prefer something larger that would also provide a larger work surface.
and you need some room for the poop shute at the back…otherwise it will be a mess
Darn. Well, thank you. I figured as much was likely the case.
This smaller desk would be adjacent to a much larger desk and being flush with the wall does not concern me much, but I do not want to have things as tight as it sounds like they would be.
I have a space of about 30"x36" that I would prefer to work with, so I will find another solution.
Again, thank you for your insight.
Thank you for your response. I was planning on not having the desk flush with the wall and putting a trash receptacle on the floor behind the printer.
It appears that even with that setup, a desk that size is just too small.
Darn. The desk is of the same color as the rest of the decor in this room.
The small desk would probably work well enough to get started. After using the printer a short while you will have a better idea of what would work better for your needs.
A printer will fit in 16" wide and 18 inches deep. That is enough room for the cord sticking out the back to bend with a reasonable radius. I designed my poop chute to fit in that space.
Mine is only taking 17x21, but I could easily make do with a square 18.5 inch space. But I don’t use a waste collector, and had to buy a second power cord because the original one keep disconnecting with the shaking. The new cord was a 90 degree angled power cord which works great (and I highly recommend if people care to change theirs). Also note I removed the filament holder and just print from the AMS or filament dryer beside it (which effectively adds 5-6 inches to the width, which I hadn’t added in).
Thank you for reminding me! I get so caught up with admitting my newness, that I forget I can tailor my own experience.
Thank you, @julie777 .
Would I be committing a faux pas by asking if you might share your chute file?
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am concerned about the vibrations; would you be willing to share where it was that you found an acceptable replacement power cord?
I found it on Amazon, just make sure to choose the right angle that matches the direction you want the cord to go, there are left and right angled plugs.
I already posted it for someone else, so no problem.

I do think the magnets need to be stronger. It slowly moves down because of the vibration.
Thank you! I now have a use for some of my extremely strong magnets (12, 25, and 50 pound lift limits).
Ive been using a heavy metal thriftstore filing cabinet that I paid $10 for and its been great for holding the printer and filament
