Keep A1 or P1S?

I currently have both units, but need to downsize to 1 due to moving and space constraints.

I’ve got a P1S with no AMS, and an A1 with an AMS Lite.

  • Current use is mostly for personal and some business-related, as-needed (nothing major to note).
  • I have never printed ABS, mostly stick with PLA/PETG/TPU, and honestly don’t think I’ll ever require ABS.
  • I do print multicolor occasionally, and like having backups for larger prints with the AMS Lite.

Should I keep the A1/AMS Lite and sell the P1S, or sell the A1/AMS Lite for an AMS 2 for the P1S?

Then there’s the option to sell it all for a P2S w/ AMS 2.

If it were you, what would you do?

Personally, I would sell both and opt for the P2S. The QoL improvements are worth it. When I traded up, I had to choose between a P1S and A1, I kept the A1 specifically because of how easy it is to swap out nozzles. Anytime someone asked me in the past what I recommended for a first printer it was always the A1, with the P2S on the market I know recommend that model.

I think this is the best choice. The P2S is considerably better than the P1S, especially when it comes to QoL. A camera that actually works and good lights are something I never considered to be a big deal until I got the P2.

In this situation, they could easily pay for 90 percent of the P2S combo with the proceeds from selling both of those printers.

I would ditch the p1s, that little cursed LCD that can’t manage the AMS settings and filaments is a real drag [to me]. I like being able to set the filaments that I’ve just rearranged before I step away from the machine, and the p1s just can’t do it without yet another device.

I like my P1S printers, I like my A1 mini, I liked my A1 before the recall.

As I read your choices, I was, keep the P1S as it is England core x/y, then you need multiple colours and the convenience of filament backup, so keep the A1.

Then you threw in the best choice if you can achieve it.

P2S.

The day one quality issues appear to have been resolved and everybody raves.

The X1C is entering its twilight before EOL. I would expect the P1S to be close behind.

I would trade both for the P2S.

However if you keep one, make sure the A1 is not one of the ones that melts.

@whencehecame It sounds like the overall consensus is that you should sell both the P1S and the A1 and get a P2S.

Bambu said “the P1S model will continue to be manufactured and sold, and Bambu Lab has no plans to phase it out in the foreseeable future“. Parts for the p1s will be sold ‘till 2031.

X1, X1C and X1E EOL dates to remember:

End of manufacturing and active sales = 2026-03-31

Software & firmware bug fixes and feature updates = 2027-05-31

Software & firmware security patches = 2029-05-31

End of spare parts supply and support = 2031-03-31

So the P1S EOL looks aligned with the X1C EOL

Well, quick update… My wife does not like the idea of selling all for a P2S, so that option will not work. It’s one of two (approved by the wife):

  • Keep the A1 and AMS Lite
  • Keep the P1S and purchase an AMS 2 w/ the A1M/Lite funds.

Thoughts?

All seriousness. Is it an A1 or and A1 Mini? The previous posts makes me think it is a A1 full size.

If it is an A1…

Keep the A1, get rid of the P1S

If it is an A1 mini…

Keep the P1S, get rid of the A1 mini
