LAN mode issues on all my printers

I use Lan mode on my 7 X1C’s and P1P’s. Starting a few firmware releases ago lan mode does not work well at all, I have to refresh over and over again when I go to print anything, it is not just sometimes, it’s every time I try to print. I slice the file, go to send the print, select the printer from the list and I have to refresh over and over again for it to finally connect and let me click send. Even then when I send the print 5-10 percent of the time the print never actually starts on the printer I send it to, I have to do the process over again. This is getting very old and since I am printing all day/night for a business it is frustrating having to do this all day long as I am trying to start prints.

I have zero issues on my network, the pc I am doing this on (on ethernet, not wifi) has no issues with network connection, all the printers are connected to the same wifi AP which is close by as well. Like I said I had no issues at all until a few firmware releases ago.

Hello

I use lan only mode with hard wired pc and it has been working with the current firmware but I only have one Bambu Lab printer at this time but I do use a static ip address for all my other printers plus I also changed the Bambu Lab sd card to SanDisk 128GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I so maybe this information might help you out and my network gear is Ubiquiti.

  • You might try first to set a static ip address for each printer and test it out.

  • Option 2 you can do vlan for the printers only if your router has this option and setup up a firewall rule so you pc will connect to the printer vlan this can help with other network traffic.

Keep us updated.

I have the same issue. I have recorded it as an issue at bambustudio and added many details. The communication code is in a closed source dll that Studio downloads from a bambu lab server. I works poorly and I have asked them to at least change the time out. Even though studio knows the printer is lan only, it makes a lot of requests to cloud servers. Those fail when Studio can’t access the internet but printing still works.

It is just a pain in the ass. You should add your name to the list. I created a poll in the forum so maybe we can get Bambu Lab to fix it.

So I guess this is a “no no” in corporate environment where there are firewall and authentication proxy’s, so this devices are not suitable for offline, lan printing… disappointed

Supposably LAN mode is not supposed to go out over the internet but I suspect it is still. I am still having this issue and it is ANNOYING AF  I put in a ticket to support days ago and still have not heard back from them. I hope they fix this asap, it is driving me insane.

The P1P can work in LAN only mode with no internet connection to the LAN.

When the printer is in LAN only mode it doesn’t try to connect to any internet servers that I could see. However, Bambu Studio always tries to connect to api.bambulab.com. It doesn’t have a LAN only mode. It just tries and fails and then connects to the printer and does its thing.

Have you tried Orca Slicer to see if it is doing the same thing?

Funny you mentioned that, I just downloaded and installed it and connected to my printers via lan mode with it. Once the prints that are running now are finished I will try it out.

You can also use WinSCP on lan only mode and drop the files onto the SD card but you will have to go to the printer to start the gcode file.

I do this for my other slicer ideaMaker with custom gcode to the Bambu Lab printer using lan only mode.

But yes lan only mode will not go outside to the internet only local network.

I have been using Orca and it is not completely resolved but it is ~80% resolved, which is nice. I still have it where I sometimes have to hit refresh but it typically will connect then. Hopefully bambulabs will fix this in a software/firmware update soon though. julie777 and I can’t be the only couple of people with this issue.

You can scan your Wi-Fi network to see all the traffic you might have in your area and change your Wi-Fi router channels to a less congested channels most routers are on auto channel mode so if you are in a congested Wi-Fi area it can effect you.

Yeah I am aware, this is not the issue, the issue is with a recent firmware update that broke something with authentication between bambu studio and the printers when in lan mode. I have no problems on my network.

Is anyone still having this issue? Just got my printer today and upon updating the firmware, the printer seems to be offline and cannot connect to the app or BambuStudio. Super disappointing.

It is improved since the last firmware/software update but still not 100 percent. What is disappointing is LAN mode is not LAN only… when bambu cloud service was up and down the other day I could not print on any of my printers (all in lan mode). So obviously “LAN” mode still requires cloud service to work, which really irritates me.

It will print in LAN only mode when the cloud is down. I have completely isolated my LAN from the internet and it worked just fine.

If you provide some of the details of what you saw and what you tried, I would be glad to help you diagnose the problem.

It would just time out when trying to print to any of my printers in bambu studio or orca (all printers in lan mode). Others on reddit who were in lan mode were reporting the exact behavior and could not print while the cloud service was down. So not sure why that was but it took me 30 mins to finally get a print going (cloud service was intermittent at the time).

My X1 is in Lan only mode also like Julie777 and it’s Not hooked to the Bambu cloud or internet.

I’m using a static ip on a vlan but you don’t have to for lan only mode to work.

I don’t log in with the slicer or your settings will be on the cloud server all my custom profiles settings are on my hard drive and backed up also you can change the backup cloud settings.

When the cloud is down I can print all day. It has never affected me.

You can flip flop but you need to get your settings off the cloud and change your settings.

I don’t have any issues. I was just trying to provide additional information to @user_2658510736

O me 2 lol

I must have hit the reply to your name sorry.

Same problem. Moreover BS Studio forgets my device ID every. SINGLE. time.I restart the printer which is often due to other problems.

So you have to re-enter the code every. single.time. you. want. to print.
Stupid frustrating software bugs from india.
