For months I have used LAN Only on my X1C without a problem. I sought out the LAN solution because the high bandwidth consumption on the standard [internet] connection. A 4 Mb render results in a 2 GB transfer.
Since updating to 01.07.02
there has been a return to eating internet bandwidth. So I turned off the internet and tried to use LAN Only. It now takes about 15 minutes for Studio to find the printers and then it constantly ask for the “Password”, which turns out be the activation code. And while it allows the file transfer and print it will not connect to the printer through the Device Tab.
Given the increasing number of tech issues raised by many X1C users after the last 2 or so firmware updates, I’ve ddcided simply to stop updating my printer firmware since the upgrade which cut the fan noise, and ever since I’ve been printing without any issues. I stopped updating the firmware because I didn’t want to face similar problems like those raised by other users after completing the latest firmware updates. And I have to confess that my printer continues to perform without any tech issues to date. I rather wait longer to learn from other users if there are post updating issues before deciding to update, and based on the number of complaints i see on this forum, I rather keep waiting for a stable and well tested firmware version.
I may not have made the point clear. Pre Studio update with the internet modem on and in LAN only mode [on the X1C and A1 Mini] the Bambu Studio uses the LAN only mode to transfer sliced files and camera views [A1 only] without the internet.
Post upgrades Studio resorted back to using the internet [NOT the LAN] to transfer “Sliced” file and to connect the camera for viewing the activity. Turn internet modem off, and you loose the connection to the printers and the cameras in the Device TAB.
I have [10] other devices on my LAN; 5 computers, 3 network hard drives, and 2 Epson printers are still functioning as expected. It is only Studio that per the last hardware upgrade for both X1C and A1 Mini has this and other problems. This is a Studio upgrade problem for both A1 and X1C that did not exist before the upgrade. It should not use the internet to transfer or connect cameras in LAN Only mode.
BTW, I turn both A1 and X1C off/on several times when trouble shooting as well as several computer restarts when Studio crashes. Which it does several times whenever the computer screen sleeps.
