LAN Only mode - Browse SD Card

Why is this a thing? I can browse my files in LAN mode if I connect via SFTP so this seems like a purposeful limitation to force me into using the cloud service. Today was a prime example of why I never want to connect up to the cloud and rely on Bambu.

Bambu can you please enable this feature. Having to open WinSCP just to look at something that should be an option in Bambu Studio is kind of annoying.

For anyone that uses LAN mode that does want to see their files:
Download WinSCP
Connect via SFTP using port 990 and the username bblp
Password is your LAN only access code on the printer.
Encryption should be already set to TLS /SSL Implicit encryption by default, if not set it.

Would it be weird to say “I love you”?
This whole LAN-only restriction, with other restrictions on top of it, like can’t access the SD card, has been so frustrating.
THANK YOU for posting this workaround!(!!!)

There is always the option to use a WiFi enabled SD card

The Panda Touch can do it, so those guys figured it out. You can control up to 10 printers with one of those things so I got one just for getting around this stupid problem.

With Bambu’s latest shenanigans (I can no longer print when my VPN is enabled) I decided to give LAN Mode a try. I followed Beermans advice on setting up WinSCP and it tries to connect but I get this error

Any suggestions?

I had similar issues when I tried and after about an hour of X rated swearing towards Bambu I went old school.
I disabled the SSL in the BambuStudio.conf file and in Studio all still worked fine.
Tried again with WinSCP and got nowhere.
Took me a while to realise I should exclude Win SCP from my VPN or turn the VPN off…

SFTP worked fine - once.
Then I kept messing with ports and protocols one by one as I found them online.
Despite having tried early on already Implicit TSL/SSL turned out to work fine.
IP of the printer, bblp for the user name (SMALL LETTERS!) and the access code for the printer as the password.
Port 990
One thing that seems to help if the connect does not want to start is to use Studio to get a connection and then let it rest in the preview tab.
Hope that’s helps in some ways… Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Tried turning VPN off, still no joy. After some poking around it seems as if my brand new printer no longer sees the sd card. I can pop it into my PC and see the files but on the actual printer screen it says no card present. We will see how well customer support works. I am starting to regret spending so much money on this thing.

Hmm…
This getting a bit odd, although I am not going as far as saying there IS a connection but…
Since these last firmware ‘updates’ for a better security came out I found quite a few posts and topics where people encounter sudden SD card problems.
I always recommend using the format tool sdcard.org provides.
These guys define the standards and know what they are doing, unlike Windows…

There is also this thing about updates of Studio and printer firmware still creating a big mess for some users.
Am a bit in a hurry here today but Bambu has a page in the Wiki for the SD card in there also the files that SHOULD be on there, including the folder structure.
For most people it is original g-ode files on the SD failing to print but as there is also some defaults and config stuff involved it might help to download the files for the current firmware and to copy them onto the freshly formatted card before sticking it in the printer again.

That’s not the problem, at least I don’t think it is. I am not trying to print from the card, just view the time lapse videos. The card was formatted using the printer and was working last night when it recorded a print. When I put the card in my PC I can see that video. I wonder if this is related to LAN mode.

I don’t think there is any conspiracy regarding sd cards and LAN mode. I have only ever used LAN only mode on my printers and have no issues accessing the files on the SD via FTP.

You don’t say what printer you are using and what firmware. If you have a X1C and have updated to the latest firmware that removes the functionality then that may be your issue. Any other model of printer (at the time of writing) hasn’t had the limiting firmware released for it.

Why conspiracy? The fact that you cant browse files in LAN mode is the same artificial limitation like the loss of skip object in LAN mode. Its not beause its not possible, but because Bambu does not want you to.

And for what printer, you are in the A1 sub, so thats an answer to that. Also never was possible, regardless of the FW version.

It is an X1C and firmware 1.07.03. Anyone have any idea about the pop up message I am getting?

TLS1.0 is disabled in your OS (Windows), that’s why its not being able to be used by WinSCP

If you follow the thread someone mentions “since the updates came out…people encounter sudden SD card problems”. That was my reference to conspiracy.

I am fully aware of the limitations Bambu is forcing on Lan mode users. I am also aware of what forum I am in, I started the thread. Not being able to see the SD card whilst in LAN mode is common across all printer models so often people come to this thread for guidance on how to overcome it.

OK, thanks, I saw that and was looking for it in WinSCP, should have realized it was an OS setting.

So I can send files to my X1C printer - LAN only mode and Developer mode are both turned on. However, when I go to the printer to physically start and print those files from the touchscreen, they don’t show up. Is there a way to make those show up?
example: refresh button on printer, or something that I am missing??
Currently if I pop my sdcard out and back in the files show up
The files are clearly on the sdcard according to my RealFTP and transferring them with sftp does not make a difference in them showing up

would Bambu’s servers have sent something with the file that would have refreshed the printer to the new files that were added to storage? or what for command could I send to refresh the list of prints/gcodes

or does someone know if the printer creates a config file with a list based off of the available gcodes, when a storage medium is inserted
